07.01.2022 Collecting shells is usually a wonderful mental time-out for me but today they got me thinking. We all have shells. Looking at all these collected on the shore, beautiful symbols of growth and transformation, I see their story. Our stories. Some shells are absolutely stunning fragile works of art. Some are are less remarkable yet strong, well constructed to protect the soft-centred being that dwelled within. Some are fractured or broken but still flash a beautiful kaleidosc...ope of colour they've always had when brought out into the light. Most, but not all, have eventually been discarded perhaps not out of death but growth. Sometimes our shell no longer serves us or feels comfortable. As we move through life and the metamorphosis that comes with so many experiences, we cease to be who we were and need what we had. Our shell thins or perhaps disappears altogether and we are just comfortable in our own skin. Vulnerable. Available. Happy. Mostly.
