21.01.2022 If you are looking for a doula to support you as your main support partner at the hospital, or would like virtual pregnancy to postpartum preparation and support - I highly recommend Trudy Legaudi - Full Spectrum Doula, Wollongong NSW. As I am currently pregnant, I have very limited availability - however Trudy is excellent (she's my doula, I should know!) Sending love xx

12.01.2022 Homebirth. Take a dive into this exquisite overnight journey of Mori and Samoan traditions, music, laughter and sobbing tears of joy. Witness the WORK of a w...oman bringing her first baby into the world, on her terms. Witness trusted matriarchal figures, singing the mother through the deep transition of labour. Witness how personal, uninhibited and free, birth can be to unfold how it needs to, when completely unhindered by walls, policies and strangers. Having an entire extended family around for a birth would not be everyone’s choice, but for this beautiful couple, it was the only way to bring their baby into the world. Parents, sister, aunties and uncles. all present, bearing unconditional support. It is with absolute delight that i share this with you, and it is with deepest of gratitude to this family for their open willingness. Special mention to Midwife Jo for your magical ability to rejoice in the uniqueness and hold personalised space for each and every birth you attend. And second midwife @athenahammond for your quiet, occasionally hilarious and completely reassuring presence. To birthing mama Denya Aroha May... you are magnificent. x Jerusha Sutton Doula Photographer

11.01.2022 The amazing Haley, birthing Sage, just shy of 44 weeks.

09.01.2022 UPDATE: EDITED TO INCLUDE QUESTIONS ANSWERED: Q: Does this change appmy to the neonatal ward? YES Q: Do these changes apply to Shoalhavem and Nowra hospital?... YES THE CHANGES ARE DISTRICT WIDE. Q: Are children under 16 years allowed to visit ie siblings? YES. Children under 16 can visit as long as they form part of the 2 visitors and must be in the care of another adult. So this would be 1 child under 16 with an adult only during the general visiting times.END OF EDIT. Here's the news all pregnant mamas, their families and doulas have been waiting for! We are very happy to finally share that as of Monday June 15, women are to be supported by up to TWO people during labour and birth. During the postnatal period, the partner is able to visit for unrestricted periods between 8am-8pm. Additionally up to 2 visitors at any one time are able to be present during the general hospital visiting hours from 10am-1pm and 3-7pm. The hospital will continue to screen and temperature take at the hospital and all visitors will be required to provide their name and contact number due to Infection Management requirement. 01.01.2022 Anytime, anywhere!

01.01.2022 Couldn't scroll by. I'm livid. I want you to know, there's a massive difference between obstetrically managed vaginal birth, and normal physiological birth. .... . Homebirth has a roughly 90% spontaneous vaginal birth rate and an 80% intact perineum rate. It's half that in most hospitals. We just don't see these appalling birth injuries at home births. . . So if birth itself is not producing these terrible, life-altering injuries .... what IS??? . . From Maternity Consumer Network: . . "Does anyone really believe this bullshit data used in this "study"!?! There is NOTORIOUS under-reporting in private practice. This was raised in the 2017 Australia Atlas of Healthcare Variations for 3/4th degree tears. - 11-fold variance in 3/4th degree tears across care providers - questions wer raised about under-reporting or diagnosis (more diplomatic than we are being though!) Private OBs are notorious for routinely inducing women, high routine epidurals, episitomies, instruments......all risk factors for severe perineal trauma. Consumers who don't have a clue about how data is collected and why there are variances would believe the article as truth. " . . From Janet Fraser, Joyous Birth: . . "Obstetric lobby groups will do anything to try and manipulate women into highly intervened births. The idea anyone might be considering birthing at home without their dubious services during the pandemic obviously means women should be coerced back into hospitals asap. None of this serves women, it just serves the obstetric system. Resist, women. Own your births and don't believe their bullshit."
