14.01.2022 Today marks 3 years of trading as Thistle Hut. What a journey it has been. From the initial commitment to build in Dec 2013, then the paperwork, the costs, a horrific accident involving one of our children, the loss of three loved ones - my dear mother, Kerry's amazing father and a trip to Qld to send off a best friend in a terrible accident, Kerry's near amputated thumb accident and the slow recovery process, the building stage, to opening was one of endurance. Emotionall...y and Physically the process was huge, I worked three jobs so Kerry could built our unique timber cottage which we named Thistle Hut, Thistle Hut because I was born in Peterhead, Scotland. I cried so much prior and during the opening days. I was totally depleted from everything, Rescue Remedy was my best friend. I was fearful of what may be, finacially struggling due to some unfortunate power issues and the list goes on. But now, even through Covid-19, Kerry and I thank her each day for what she has provided for us, we are grateful for the wonderful people we have met and become friends with through her doors. Happy Birthday again Thistle Hut, may you continue to develop and keep your grass roots feel.

Since we opened our little cafe we continue to recycle all our waste. So when you eat out, think of those things, is your choice of venue doing the same? 07.01.2022 Market Day tomorrow in Launceston @harvest_launceston so trying to get flowers prepared with the help from some lovely folks we call friends, but a full on day today in the cafe slowed that down. So tonight was spent preparing food for Kez to serve tomorrow. Then the kitchen fridge decides to malfunction!! REALLY.. Welcome to a Shitfight, my man has zero tolerance for unexpected hiccups.. haha.. So his comments were fortunately muffulled while my head was in manuals and rel...ocating stock. Oh well, shit does happen, I've learnt during this journey into small business to stress less, take things in my stride and throw some of that shit to the wind and see what happens. Life is short, things happen to test us and we need to learn some lessons along the way. The upside from the inconvenience was, when we left to drive the loaded van full of flowers to come down to the house our red dog who had claimed the drivers seat, said, "I've got this Trace, you relax, I'll drive!" 07.01.2022 I love old cemeteries and this one was amazing but in a shocking state. I disappeared into the depths of the paddocks and came across a child's grave but the headstone words have been worn away by the harsh West Coast weather. To pay respect to the dead I found some wild flowers and grasses and made a boquet and placed it on the grave.
