16.01.2022 On a very early morning walk through Brisbane CBD with my dog Olympia we stopped in a deserted surreal landscape void of any humans, and Looked Up. One doesn’t and can’t always get that chance to do this in a bustling street full of people. You get the chance to study in isolation, architectural details and design that often you know exist but just don’t have the opportunity to observe closely because of external happenings around you. It’s something we plan to do more ofte...n, as our built environments are often taken for granted or overlooked, not because of disrespect, but because we don’t slow down and take the time to enjoy what’s before us. Two images are completely opposite in architectural style, one Italian renaissance revival and the other one is of Brisbane’s tallest tower under construction, topping out at I think 90 floors from memory.
