A Launceston man with what was described a "very serious drug issue" has been jailed after carrying out a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries on business complexes in the Launceston area. The male pleaded guilty to multiple counts of burglary, stealing, attempted burglary and motor vehicle stealing.

04.01.2022 A woman accused of bashing and robbing a 70-year-old man in his Longford home has been denied bail and appeared in the Launceston Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with aggravated armed robbery, aggravated burglary and stealing. The alleged victim presented at the Launceston General Hospital requiring medical attention, after the incident occurred in the early hours of October 25.

A local fish shop employee has had a frightening encounter with a kitchen knife-wielding robber who has avoided been captured by police after holding up a local takeaway. The employee was left shaken after the encounter. The male entered the shop wearing a hoodie and mask and demanded cash befo...re leaving the area on a push bike. The knife wilding hooded thug in a deep voice yelled give me the Fu----in money!!!! Sources say an element of planning had gone into the armed robbery however these actions have the potential to go seriously wrong and people get hurt. "Police say QUOTE "there's no doubt the vast majority of our drugs come in via national transport, whether that be by plane or boat so with that opening up we anticipate an increase in drugs and with that increase comes the necessity for people to do crime to supplement their income to get the drugs."
