18.01.2022 TPH Presents: LIVE MUSIC ON FILM. If we can’t go to gigs, then the next best thing is seeing them on the big screen with big sound. 15.01.2022 Our little cinema re-opens from Wednesday and we've chosen the heartbreaking but excellent Australian film, BABYTEETH as our opener. We then go into some more great films over the week such as Christopher Nolan's mind-bending, time-traveling TENET, our kids' film is ASTRO KID, Taika Waititi's team in BABY DONE and to acknowledge & celebrate NAIDOC WEEK, a special screening of the landmark 1983 documentary LOUSY LITTLE SIXPENCE introduced by filmmaker Daryl Dellora. Tix on sa...le for all films now. - We’re limited to 20 patron capacities and our seating/ticketing system will create an automatic bubble around you or your group for distancing. Groups up to 10 are permitted to sit together. We also have to leave 30 minutes between film sessions to reduce crowding in the foyer, so we have had to reduce our usual numbers of screenings due to this. We expect it to be a temporary measure. A reminder for wheelchair users, your seats to choose from are B6, B7 and B9. - Tickets in bio or www.thornburypicturehouse.com.au - 10 days of zero cases, cinemas and other good places opening up, NAIDOC Week, Biden/Harris, sunshine. Reasons to be cheerful as Ian Dury once said.. - - #naidoc2020 #indiecinema #thornbury #tenet @babyteethfilm #wedidit See more

06.01.2022 "With cinemas closed for months and production schedules disrupted around the world, it's been a while since the choice of what movie to see has been so clear. Corpus Christi is that movie. Just go. Paul Byrnes, The Age 4.5 / 5 stars. CORPUS CHRISTI tells the true story of a man who impersonates a priest in a rural Polish village. Polish cinema has long punched above its weight and this is one of those examples. This films starts its run with us today. PS. Maggie, the lady who was missing has been sound safe in Reservoir. Thanks for sharing the message. #thornbury #thornburypicturehouse

02.01.2022 Our film that celebrates NAIDOC Week 2020 is Lousy Little Sixpence - the 1983 landmark documentary film that preserves the life stories of many Indigenous people now elders who were procured by the missions to enter the workforce and become servants to wealthy white families. The title comes from the wages that were to be paid to the children. Many never saw that lousy little sixpence. The issue of their stolen wages remains unaddressed. Screening today at 4pm with intro from Daryl Dellora.

01.01.2022 Following Sunday’s announcement, the slight increase in our capacity has meant shows previously listed as sold out now have some extra seats available, which is great news. We have also added more shows from December 3rd. This week - try not to miss the film pictured here, WAVES. A24, the studio that brought us some top films recently like Hereditary, Uncut Gems, The Lighthouse & Midsommar, but one of their films that flew a bit under the radar, partially due to Covid, was WA...VES. Beautifully shot, great performances, incredible score - it’s got an aesthetic like Moonlight and it'll tear your heart out. Just great cinema.

01.01.2022 Two powerful Indigenous stories coming soon to TPH: HIGH GROUND and FIRE-STARTER: THE STORY OF BANGARRA. Films that remind us of our past and also stories that provide hope for our future. We are thinking of our First Nation friends today and we can only hope that one day we can all come together to celebrate this awesome country, on a date that is inclusive and respectful to all Australians. We’re open from 1pm today. Bangarra Dance Theatre performing Bennelong. (Photo: Vishal Pandey)
