21.01.2022 This morning we managed to send a drone up to check on a couple of workers keeping a few wheels turning. With Ash out on the seeder planting vetch and Jack out in the feed mixer on his way to fill some feeders. Thanks Daniel for the use of the drone.

20.01.2022 We couldn’t miss the opportunity to have a picture taken with bale number 669 a big thank you to our shearer’s Lachie, Jeff, Jono and Bob for the fantastic efforts over the last 12 months to help us achieve this many bales. We also sent of a nice semi load of wool last week Great work Thornby team

18.01.2022 Found a new use for the excavator. Filled the truck really quick from the grain rings

18.01.2022 Happy Easter Liz has been busy at the front gate Pity there is almost no one driving by to see it

18.01.2022 The Trucks and multiple drivers have been busy bringing lambs back from WA the last few weeks.

16.01.2022 Seeding on KI this week. Little different scale to back at Thornby! With the wintery weather this week tarps we’re required to keep the moisture out. Flapped a bit but did the job well. We’ve been seeding a home-brew of oats, vetch, peas, canola, forage radish, ryegrass and a clover mix. Aim is to create plant diversity for both soil health and as a useful feed-source. We’ve also tried this back at Sanderston where we had spread feedlot manure. We’ll see how we go...

16.01.2022 And....we are on! Seeding at Thornby for 2021 has begun....

16.01.2022 As quickly as lambs are coming in...they are heading back out! Another 8 decks sent out this morning

15.01.2022 Jared’s been busy the last couple days making 50-60kg of lamb sausages with a couple of different flavours. Had a bit of a cook-up for lunch today and I think we’ll all be eating sausages for the next week! Thanks Jared!!

15.01.2022 SHEDHAND NEEDED!! Here at Thornby we have been working overtime trying to keep on top of our shearing. For the next 6 weeks we will be increasing our shearing days from 3 a week to 5 days a week to get on top of things! We are needing a keen, hardworking shedhand to help us out 5 days a week for the next 6 weeks or so. Immediate start. Experience is awesome ... but not a necessity. If you’re willing to learn, work hard, use initiative and work in a new state of the art shea...ring shed with a great team of people please get in touch! Thornby is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and a smoke free workplace. Please contact Alex 0421038504. Please share!

14.01.2022 Harvest all done. Had a good run this year with machine generally behaving themselves and our team doing a cracking job.

14.01.2022 After what seems like an eternity ... our brand new fire wood processing machine has finally arrived! It’s a Rex 600X. This will speed up our splitting and increase the quality of our final product, as it sieves the kindling out. So for anyone out there who is after a really top quality cut firewood to keep your home warm this winter ... give Alex a call to organise! We sell our mixed gum at $280 a tonne, weighed over our trade approved weighbridge. Delivery can also be arranged. We will also be hiring the machine out with an operator included for those who may have their own wood to split. Get in touch! 0421038504

11.01.2022 Three field bins are making their way to KI today. Nice day for a steady drive

09.01.2022 Took the new truck on its first trip. Added another Scania to the Thornby fleet

06.01.2022 The feed cart and Mum’s old car got a wash today before getting put away for another season. And yes, the feed cart is worth a ****load more than the car but the old girl with over 500,000km on the original motor still does a bloody good job!

05.01.2022 Picked up our new telehandler today. This is cleanest we’ll ever see it as it was put to work cleaning out feedlot yards as soon as it came off the truck. No point just sitting in the shed

04.01.2022 Jimmy ... you’re too cute! Hopefully you’ll make the cut and become the most famous sleeping kelpie around! Hats off to Mikaela for taking the ripper photo

03.01.2022 Our order days have all been changed around with Easter, but if you're looking for some great tasting lamb delivered to your door just let us know and we will g...et it to you as soon as we can. This week we were going to say that with the weather getting cooler now is a great time to fire up some roasts or the slow cooker. With 34C forecast for tomorrow at the farm, a better option might be the butterflied shoulder on the bbq!

02.01.2022 Last year I (Paul) was fortunate to win the Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship in the Ag Bureau’s Spirit of Excellence Awards. It was a great honour, I’ve learnt a lot and is an experience that I highly recommend to anyone else in our industry. Get on it, the application process is simple the team at the Ag Bureau are great to work with
