There will therefore be no roll-ups or other form of bowling allowed until this lock-down is lifted or the sanctions changed. This Directive applies to all members of the Club with no exceptions allowed. Thank you for your help in this difficult matter. Arthur Tunnicliffe

19.01.2022 A third of B Green has been re-laid however due to the weather conditions last week, work has been delayed. With the fine weather being forecast for this week we should see some significant progress. We will try to get the Green open as soon as possible however it will require many hours of rolling to get it up to an acceptable speed. I spent a lot of time watching Evergreen prepare and lay the surface so that I had an understanding of what work was required. I can only say t...hat the amount of time spent ensuring the green is level and the care taken in laying the surface is extraordinary. We are hoping to have the final plans available for perusal and sign off today. COVID 19 has had an impact on getting final plans drawn up. You may have notice some sitework happening behind the Greenkeepers shed. This is the commencement work for the new carpark not the Clubhouse. We may not have the Clubhouse yet but at least we are going to have a new carpark.

19.01.2022 Should be a great night.

13.01.2022 Thornlie Bowling Club has reduced trading hours. The bar will be open from 2pm-6pm daily.

13.01.2022 New Trading Hours: All days except Friday 2.00pm to 6.00pm Friday 2.00pm to 8.00pm These hours are flexible and dependant on the number of members in the Clubhouse at the time of closing. Once Crossroads commences again Friday trading will be extended. Social distancing rules are still in place with the requirement that each patron has 2sqm of space. Another requirement is that all members are seated with standing or sitting at the bar to drink not being allowed. The Clubhouse will be setup to accommodate these requirements and I request all members to listen to and follow instructions issued by the staff.

10.01.2022 Hello fellow members. Some good news at last with COVID 19 lockdown. You have probably already heard about the increase in number of social gatherings to 10. This means that bowls roll ups are now permitted subject to certain conditions;... Subject to the social gathering and distancing legislation/restrictions, only four people are allowed to play together and the 1.5m physical distancing rule is to be observed at all times. There must be one rink space (an empty rink) between each rink in use. A maximum of 10 persons is allowed per green at any one time. All players are to use separate mats and jacks (or ensure that the same player on each rink places mats or places/rolls jacks). Other bowls equipment cannot be shared between players (e.g. bowls, cloths, measures etc). Players should practice safe hygiene at all times, including washing hands for at least 20 seconds before and after bowls. From approximately 7.00am each morning until 6.00pm, the greens will be available for use by the members. Please enter and park via the greenkeepers gate on Thornlie Avenue. We ask members to self-monitor the obeying of the rules. Regards to all and I hope to see you on the greens over the coming weeks.

09.01.2022 Due to the demographics of the majority of our patrons, and complying with social distancing guidelines, Bingo has been suspended until further notice.

08.01.2022 All events have been cancelled due to the current circumstances with Covid 19. This notice excludes the Pennant Bowls wind-ups which will be held at 4.00 pm on Thursday and Saturday this week (19th and 21st March) The Thornlie Bowling Club Ladies will also hold their AGM on 28th March at 10.00am.

07.01.2022 Melbourne Cup Day

07.01.2022 Thornlie Bowling Club took the first step into its new clubhouse Dec 21st when club members moved equipment and memorabilia of 55 years into new club sheds.

06.01.2022 Trading Hours At the request of some members who like a flutter on the horses we will open on Saturdays from 12pm. All other hours remain as previously advised. Our trading hours are very flexible and we are willing to adjust our hours depending on patronage.

05.01.2022 Sadly, the greens are no longer available and open for roll ups. We hope to reopen the facilities as soon as it is safe for our members and staff. Stay safe everyone.

04.01.2022 Clubhouse open from Monday, 8th June. Whilst restrictions have been uplifted as at Saturday 6th June we need to be able to re-stock and also have time to chill the stock. Undoubtedly our suppliers will be inundated with orders and we are not sure when our stock will arrive. Michelle has already ordered most of the stock required and we are hopeful it will be here by next Friday. During the first couple of weeks of re-opening we may not have all the stock that the Club usually supplies. For example, CUB have advised us that Pure Blond will not be available for at least 6 weeks. We ask that you be patient whilst we re-stock.

04.01.2022 Due to the bad weather forecast this week, there will be a delay until the weather improves. Work is scheduled to resume next Tuesday.

03.01.2022 HI THERE FOLKS Women’s Pennants will go ahead as usual on Saturday 6th February, all ladies to convene at 12.15 pm at the club to go to Manning. As you can see below the Men's Pennant games will be played as scheduled but in accordance with the current BowlsWA Covid rules. It will be necessary to check the Match board on Saturday morning to confirm your team position and the Club at which you will play. This may be inconvenient but it is unavoidable under the circumstances. ...Also note that the TBC Championship games will be played this weekend as scheduled and also under the BowlsWA Covid rules. Good luck with your games and stay safe, Arthur Tunnicliffe Club Secretary COVID UPDATE METRO PENNANTS TO GO AHEAD BY AARON DELAPORTE Update February 5th 2021 at 9am Given the continued end of full lockdown at 6pm 5th February Metropolitan Pennants competitions will recommence from Saturday 6th February under the following guidelines inline with the State Government advice. Masks must be worn before, during and after play. Venues will be limited to 150 players, staff and spectators, this includes both inside and outside areas of clubs. The 4 sqm rule will apply for venues, again up to 150 patrons. Patrons must be seated when eating or drinking. Bowlers who play Metropolitan Pennants but reside outside of the Metro or Peel Region must have a government exemption for travel into these areas. Venue contacts registers must be in place and strictly followed. Fines apply to both venues and individuals who do not comply. Clubs within the South West will be free to re-open and resume normal pre-lockdown activity. Clubs within the Metro and Peel Region are required to follow the State Government advice until the restrictions are lifted at 12.01am 14th February 2021. Bowls WA encourages all clubs and their members to continue to maintain Covid Health and Safety practices at all times. Arthur Tunnicliffe 0419 969 946

03.01.2022 B Green is now open! When rolling up please roll up on the pegs. Organised competitions will recommence as soon as possible. Jim Warchol has informed me that he will start Wednesday & Friday bowls next week so please get your names in quick. At the moment we are limited to 6 ricks. Pairs is limited to 12 teams (24 players) and fours 48 players and participation will be on a first in basis. We are still to confirm start dates for Thursday and Saturday events. These numbers mee...t the current COVID 19 phase 3 restrictions. One major change to the Phase 2 restrictions is that you can now share equipment (i.e. mats and jacks). Social distancing must still be adhered to and you are required to sanitised before starting play. Please be aware that the chairs and scoreboards have been removed from the Northern end of the green for repairs and repositioning. There will be minimal seating available and no scoreboards are available at the moment. The surrounds on both ends of the green have been uplifted to allow reticulation for the green to be installed. Whilst the carpet has been relayed it may not be completely flat so please be careful. C Green should be available early in the week commencing Monday 22 June. This is of course subject to weather conditions. Finally I would like to acknowledge the work of Glyn Vaughan and Ken Beall who have both spent many hours on the rollers to get B green in a playable condition so quickly. Also Paul Pohe who has been at the club every day since work began to ensure everything goes to plan. There have also been several other volunteers who have come to assist with work around the greens and I thank them all.

02.01.2022 Bingo starts again next Monday 15th June 2020 at the normal time.

02.01.2022 2019-2020 Mens Championship Fours Winners: Glyn Vaughan, Glenn Sewell, John Thorn & Pas Riggio

02.01.2022 An update from the director: Hello members. To follow is an update on the projects we currently have underway:... B & C Green replacement It is unfortunate timing considering we have just been allowed to commence roll-ups but the existing surfaces will be uplifted commencing 12th May 2020. They say it takes approximately one week to lay a green. We then need to roll the surfaces to bring up the speed. We will endeavour to have one surface available for roll-ups ASAP however we are looking at approximately 3 weeks where the greens will be closed. New Clubhouse COVID 19 restrictions have had an impact on getting quotes for kitchen and bar fit outs plus the new beer line systems. All quotes are now in and correspondence with the Council and Tennis Club to determine building colours and hopefully sign off on the entire development is currently in progress. At the moment we are running approximately 1 month the proposed schedule so moving in before Christmas this year is looking less likely. I will keep you informed of any new developments that occur. In the meantime please all stay fit and healthy.
