24.01.2022 Look what hopped into Tony’s basket and is trying to eat all his carrots..... the Easter Bunny itself! (Never been sure if the Easter Bunny is a girl or a boy!) Tony has plenty to go around though so no need to worry about missing out. Our carrots are being freshly dug nearly every day. The Little Green Shed, on the edge of Thorpdale, also has the tastiest potatoes around (especially the baby Dutch Creams), butternut, onions, rhubarb, beetroot, apples, quinces, cherry t...omatoes and zucchinis. 20.01.2022 Put on your raincoat and head for the Little Green Shed as this morning green beans are making their debut. There's also a few plums and of course about a million zucchinis. With the ongoing cool and muggy February, summer crops are late and the season will be shortened. This means grab our produce whilst you can! Zucchinis are $1 each all sizes.... 19.01.2022 Here's a man who "knows his onions" and this applies to his knowledge and skills in growing other seasonal, certified organic veggies as well. Tony's lovingly grown veggies and some fruit that are now available in the Little Green Shed include: Three varieties of potatoes, carrots, onions, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, two varieties of apples, rhubarb and quinces. Add salt & pepper, close your eyes and enjoy the pure indulgence of these little pearls of total deliciousness and decadence. At $4 a kilo, it's a fabulous feed! 15.01.2022 Some treats are worth waiting for ... like our NEW SEASON’S Dutch Cream chats (baby potatoes), just dug from our rich, fertile Thorpdale soil this very morning. These super delicious tiny potatoes are perfect any way you wish to enjoy them. They are spectacular steamed, beautiful boiled and ridiculously irresistible roasted. 11.01.2022 We love to cook (and eat) Tony's pre-washed organic spuds. No need to peel them; just a quick rinse, prepare and cook. Quick, easy, super nourishing and delicious, these spuds are a great all-rounder, grown by Tony in our rich, organic, volcanic soil. 02.01.2022 Many of us feel despondent about the virus rearing its ugly head once again; so how about something to lighten the mood a little? Take a look these carrots. They’re somewhat like people. Some are tall, some are stout, some have extra wobbly bits, some are cracked and twisted, some are thin, wrinkly and weedy, and some are even greedy, and some overdo their fake tan and end up an even brighter shade of orange than their mates!... But unlike people, these guys don’t have to worry about a healthy diet (any more!) They do however, help us to take care of our own health; something that is always important, but even more so in these times. Vegetable farming in Gippsland is quite a miserable affair at this time of the year, but we still have the basics in our Little Green Shed. .... 02.01.2022 This is what I made to go with dinner tonight using my newest toys, the Kleva range Sumo slicer and my Kogan pie maker. We also had snags in sauce and tomato, avocado & garlic salad. This year Tony has grown Dutch Creams , Coliban and Wilwash potatoes and any of those varieties would be perfect for these "pies." I used Wilwash & Dutch Creams with the skin left on. I made a mixture of finely grated spuds, cheese, garlic, chopped bacon, egg, S&P. Gave them about 20 minutes... and flipped them half-way through the cooking time. They were delicious!!! Tony hasn't moved since he ate them. He's not sure that he can for a while yet. Don't forget to drop into the Little Green Shed for your home grown, certified organic potatoes. 02.01.2022 These chips were THE BEST. The potato’s variety name is Wilwash. Funny name, but they make the best chips. Also fabulous for roast potatoes and a smooth, creamy white mash. Great all rounder actually. The skins are pale and clean and don’t need to be peeled, although I find they crunch up a little better without their skins. Not sure why. ... These chips were cooked in our Sunbeam Air Fryer. I tossed them in a little olive oil and salt and bingo ..... potato chips with a lovely potato-ee flavour. Wilwash spuds are now available in our Little Green Shed together with Dutch Creams and Colibans, (and of course, Tony’s other seasonal vegetables.) 02.01.2022 Here we are looking at you looking at us! You might be wondering how we, and the Little Green Shed, have coped during the past few months' lockdown. Personally we've coped well. In a business sense our sales spiked at the same time toilet paper sales spiked and since then have just bumped along .... up one day and down the next.... Tony and I thank YOU, the constant, loyal customers who have continued to support us and what we do during this difficult time.
