24.01.2022 Check that out!! That is one hell of a good fence! We are starting to service and organise all our irrigators ready for the next season and I must say one of the nicest things about winter is not running irrigator’s. Helps keep that fairy away.

22.01.2022 Some say it’s the hottest substance known to human kind - the humble Baked Bean Jaffle. I reckon they are pretty hard to beat but a spaghetti one is a close second. #jaffle #campfire #bushtoastie #winter #tasmania

22.01.2022 Some quality testing never goes astray! We still have 1500 lambs to sell with most already contracted and delivered in the next 6 weeks. This year my brassica finishing system really hit the mark and produced a lot of high quality feed in a very dry and tough season that stretched my irrigation to its limit - pretty much worst case scenario! I am lucky to be supported by great staff, advisors, suppliers and contractors who as a team helped me hit some farming goals that I’ve ...been working towards for 3 years. I managed 45 lambs to the hectare on one of the blocks and 40 on the other. I still have a long way to go in building up my average daily gains but we are on the way! I’ve popped up a few picks that make me smile: lambs on a tray - lambs at the pivot - painless rotational grazing system - Lambs up to their guts in feed - the next generation - loaded trucks! @ Thorpe Farm See more

21.01.2022 I found a great Facebook group called Pivot Irrigator Trouble Shooters from all over the world. I reckon I’m doing pretty well with mine despite how my feed looks all summer! I am a member of the span down club though! #pivotirrigation #farmfuckups #notmine

19.01.2022 Had a chat to the ABC about the amazing spring. It will be on ABC news tonight too.

17.01.2022 This sums ups the last few days trying to sow! Rain squalls coming through while the sun shines on the other end of the paddock bringing everything to a stop. Quite frustrating really when I’m hoping to have a couple of days off next week for school holidays and there is 30ha still needing ploughing and 42ha cultivating and 55ha of sowing to go... at a work rate of 2.5/3ha per hr the clock is quickly beating me.

16.01.2022 Hard to beat a good working dog. Most of you know this is Stella, the half lap dog and half work dog. She is a Kelpie Boarder Collie cross and a very loyal girl. She shows no fear in the yard and happily gets up on the back of the sheep and will run around on their backs, up and down a race or just push them through the yards making my day a thousand times easier. She is very fit and I really want to get a GPS collar on her to see how far she runs in a day and I reckon it would be up around 80km. She would run back and forward to the Square 3 times in a day instead of riding in the ute which is a 18km round trip plus chase a few sheep in between. A good dog is worth it’s weight in gold and this one’s a nugget! #sheepdog #farming #sheep #workingdog #kelpie #boardercollie #dogsofinstagram #farmdog

13.01.2022 The orphan lambs just chilling out with food coma after a solid session on the lamb bar getting their milk.

13.01.2022 Lewis has always had a love with animals and has never been able to just walk past them without trying to pick them up, pat them or play with them. He’s an animal man as he likes to say and being in a pen of lambs is my happy place. #farmkid #farmkids #familyfarming #lamb #sheep #farming

11.01.2022 So great to be back irrigating... 2 flats and bogged all within the first 45 degrees of 205 degrees swing haven’t even started the pump yet...

06.01.2022 Sunset sowing late barley with the #Johndeere #6110 and #Internationalharvester 511 seed drill. We are sowing into sandy soil that’s had 80tons / Ha of fish guts applied and I’m curious to see how it responds.

05.01.2022 Last nights sunset moving some sheep. The Shea Oak you can see silhouetted on the hilltop was planted by us and our Japanese friends who invested in this block of land with us 30 years ago when we purchased it.

04.01.2022 As far as a dogs life goes I think Peppa the #westhighlandwhiteterrier lives a charmed life, flying, chasing sheep, farm runs and still gets the odd day in town to bark at dog walkers going past from the window ontop of the radiator. #airtractor402 #dog #dogsofinstagram #farmlife #farmdog #dogismycopilot
