13.01.2022 DJEMAA EL FNA SQUARE, MARRAKESH - By far one of the most intensely dramatic market squares in the world. It will leave you breathless, wide eyed and astounded by all that takes place and has been since the 11th century. Locals delight in telling tourists that its name means assembly of the dead, which could derive from the fact that public executions were likely held here in the past. Unesco declared Djemaa El Fna a 'Masterpiece of World Heritage' in 2001 for bringing urban... legends and oral history to life nightly, and although the storytellers who once performed here have since given way to communal games, musical performers, and slapstick comedy acts, Djemaa's nightly carnival continues to dazzle. Amazing musicians strike up the music and gnaoua troupes sing while henna tattoo artists beckon to passersby, and water-sellers in fringed hats clang brass cups together, hoping to drive people to drink. A utter feast for the senses. #morocco ##marrakesh #travel #offthebeatenpath #UNESCO #djemaaelfna #markets #Souq #Dancers #snakecharmers #wonderlust #medina #photography #tourism

09.01.2022 SIGHTSEEING FLIGHTS OVER ANTARTICA FROM AUSTRALIA and Ex Adelaide - the worlds most unique day trip! 2020/2021 Season out now...seats will sell out fast! Experience Antartica from the air in one day, embrace the worlds last great wilderness by enjoying unparalleled views of the icy landscape aboard the ultra-modern 787 Dreamliner. I can vividly recall my first trip to the place even more Down Under than Australia, some 20+ years ago. I was new to the travel industry, thou...gh not new to travel, and was given the amazing opportunity by my Manager, Tashi, at Thor Travel to sail to, and learn about this remote continent. With no idea of what it was all about, I was so excited and completely astonished upon sighting my first ice berg, my first penguin, and actually stepping foot on the Antarctic Continent proper. It was love at first sight, and plans for my next visit to Antarctica began as soon as I got home. It was going to be another 20 years - almost to the day!- before the next opportunity came up. This time, in January 2019, I was accompanied by husband and partner in crime, Frank. We were charmed by the iconic wildlife, and staggered by the exploits of the Explorers of the Heroic Age. But most of all, we were witness to the vast and pristine landscape of this final frontier huge, majestic, snow-white tabular ice-bergs; half-melted aquamarine bergs, sculpted by wind and pounding waves; soaring snow-covered peaks; and the bluest of blue seas. Literally, a sight for sore eyes, if you forgot to put your sunglasses on! - Sandra Worsfold, Senior Thor Travel Consultant With the 2019/2020 Antarctic season in full swing, the New Year heralded the onset of COVID19, which has seen the whole travel industry stopped in its tracks, and the complete disruption to the end of the Southern Polar season. And while International travel is still restricted, it will not be possible to visit this magical destination via the usual Adventure Voyages. However, all is not lost as we can now take advantage of one of several flights over the White Continent, scheduled between November 2020 and February2021. The flights depart from 4 main gateways during the Antarctic Summer: Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and most exciting for us Crow Eaters, from Adelaide, on Valentines Day, 14February 2021. These flights are considered domestic, so no passport required. While flightseeing at 10,000 feet altitude may not give you an up-close experience of the wildlife, video screens will show scenes of life on the ground, and Antarctic experts on board will provide commentary on the polar environment and history. In addition, your full day experience on the chartered 787 Dreamliner will give you fabulous views of the rugged landscape, thanks to windows that are 65% larger than the norm. For more details on pricing , seat rotation and other logistics, please contact the Polar Experts at Thor Travel.. Dont hesitate, as seats on the Sydney flights are almost already booked out!

The Tigers Nest Monastery is a small collection of buildings precariously perched on a cliff, 900 meters off of the ground. It is stunning in its beauty and extraordinary location. It was constructed in 1692, around the cave where Guru Rinpoche first meditated, the event that introduced ...Buddhism into Bhutan. Now, this monastery consists of four temples with residential accommodations for the monks. Despite the daily visits by tourists, Paro Takstang still functions as a monastery today. 04.01.2022 TABLE MOUNTAIN, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - If there is an iconic symbol of South Africa and Cape Town then it is Table Mountain. In almost every picture, postcard or depiction of the Mother City, the flat-topped mountain is usually seen hovering in the background. Table Mountain is one of the oldest mountains on earth, six times older than the Himalayas and five times older than the Rockies. And the answer to the burning question is.. why is this mountain flat? Around 300 mil...lion years ago the mountain was still at sea level during an ice age and ice sheets flattened the layers of sandstone creating the flat surface that today we call the Table Top. When the continents split apart, stresses and pressures built up in the earths crust. If the rocks of Table Mountain had been made only of sandstone they would have folded under the pressure, but as they turned into granite instead - it gave it strength, deflecting the forces down. Slowly this process forced the layers of rock to rise, slowly becoming the kilometre high mountain we know today. Throughout its history, Table Mountain has been eroded by the action of wind, fire, ice and water. The flat face of the mountain is a cliff face, caused by the action of waves when the sea lapped against it! About time you see this spectacular city and her guardian for yourself! #southafrica #capetown #africa #tablemountain #hiking #City #wildife #ocean #culture #moutainbike #mountains #unique #travel #travelgram

03.01.2022 Africa is mystic; it is wild; it is a sweltering inferno; it is a photographer’s paradise, a hunter’s Valhalla, an escapist’s Utopia.
