25.01.2022 Peace requires us to surrender our illusions of control. We can love and care for others but we cannot possess our children, lovers, family, or friends. We can assist them, pray for them, and wish them well, yet in the end their happiness and suffering depend on their thoughts and actions, not on our wishes. -Jack Kornfield

21.01.2022 There is light and shadow in everything, in life and in us. Focusing on one aspect and avoiding the other, never really deals with the whole. Working on the lig...ht never extinguishes the shadow. It's only when we work on the darkness, does the light grow. . And yet the darkness is always there, for there cannot be light without it. The purpose is not to eliminate our shadow entirely but to find a way to live with them. Acceptance that annoyance, grief, frustration, worry, anxiety and other parts of our shadow, are a part of our normal human condition. But, the shadows can be made much worse by overthinking and wrong perception. Ask yourself; Am I seeing this situation correctly? Or is there something not appearing as it seems? Is my dislike fuelling my reaction? Is being right that important? . As much as the natural urge is to gravitate towards the light and avoid the darkness, it's the shadows that often reveals what needs to be worked on. And that is not bad........ . . . As always seek professional help if your shadows are overwhelming. You are not alone. . . . . #awareness #calm #clarity #contemplate #consciousliving #grow #komyoreiki #lifestyle #meditation #melbourne #melbournelife #melbournereiki #melbournereikiteacher #mindbody #perspective #personaldevelopment #possibilities #reikimaster #reikiteacher #reikicoursemelbourne #sallywain #seecleary #selfdiscovery #spiritualpractice #wellnessjourney See more

20.01.2022 A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, ...I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed incapable of doing anything." Remember to put the glass down!

20.01.2022 I think I have posted this before but Im posting it again anyway. Clear that clutter . Clear your mind

19.01.2022 It's absurd for us to feel like we can't say no without saying "I'm sorry but I can't do that." Or feeling guilty because we have to say no and often we feel gu...ilty even if we really really don't want to do something or actually physically can't, we still feel guilty. Let's just all say no when we need and want to without feeling guilty or apologizing. The first step to normalizing this is to begin doing it, understanding that we are all the same, so when you begin doing it you become a healthy model for others. ~xoxo Michelle & Barb See more

17.01.2022 A Sanskrit proverb says: For breath is life, and if you breathe well you will live long on earth. "In the Sutra of Mindful Breathing, the Buddha offers a meth...od to release the tension in our body. To allow our body and mind to rest. Breathing in, I am aware of my body. This is one exercise described by the buddha. When you breathe in, you bring your mind to your body. This is a basic practice. Breathing in, I release all tension in my body. Whether in a sitting or lying position, it is possible to release all the tensions in our body. These should become a daily exercise. During the time we sit, walk or eat, it is possible for us to practice this". Dharma Talks by Thich Nhat Hanh

10.01.2022 "In a pandemic, self-isolation is called quarantine. In Buddhism, it is called retreat. From the cave of our home, like the meditators of ancient times, we can consciously kindle the lamp of compassion and connection." ~ Lama Willa Miller

10.01.2022 Frida Kahlo told her husband, "I'm not asking you to kiss me, nor apologize to me when I think you're wrong. I won't even ask you to hug me when I need it most. I don't ask you to tell me how beautiful I am, even if it's a lie, nor write me anything beautiful. I won't even ask you to call me to tell me how your day went, nor tell me you miss me. I won't ask you to thank me for everything I do for you, nor to care about me when my soul is down, and of course, I won't ask you to support me in my decisions. I won't even ask you to listen to me when I have a thousand stories to tell you. I won't ask you to do anything, not even be by my side forever. Because if I have to ask you, I don't want it anymore.

03.01.2022 An angry person chooses anger. A peaceful person chooses peace. A loving person chooses love. A fearful person chooses fear. What kind of person do you choose to be?
