25.01.2022 I'm delighted to be back, fresh and full after a couple of weeks leave to reset and replenish. Being a practitioner and reminding others of the importance of self-care, provides a continual prompt to practice this myself - for which I'm very grateful. I certainly appreciate the barriers and resistance that can occur to implementing regular self-care, so my advice comes from this place of understanding. I also know the ease, grounding, and connection to self that comes fro...m such a practice, so my words come from a place of knowing and experience. Prioritise your self-care. Maybe it feels like you haven't got the time - though trust me when I say, rest, and things will be easier! It's a false economy to push on from a place of a near-empty of even leaking tank. Start by coming to have a reset on (one of my!) tables. Pause for a while, be nourished, and find out how much more enjoyable life can be when you feel relaxed! 24.01.2022 It can be challenging to keep up an exercise routine through winter, when you might prefer to be tucked up cosily on the couch rather than braving the brisk outdoors! Here's some handy tips from The Conversation on getting back into a routine. Regularity is key, so start by making small, achievable goals. Exercise can support a healthy, robust immune system and strengthens mental health resilience. "Once you’ve decided to start exercising, and had a medical check if needed, start slowly and build your exercise routine up over weeks and months. Make it interesting and enjoyable, perhaps by working out with a friend or group. Set some achievable goals, try to stick to them and don’t give up if you have a set back."

21.01.2022 The season, here in Australia, is Autumn. Some glorious rains have blessed the soil, days are shortening and the air has a bite to it! In Chinese medicine, Autumn is connected to the Lungs and the corresponding emotion of grief and sadness. This is certainly pertinent at this time; we are all taking extra measures to protect our respiratory system and may be feeling waves of challenging emotions with all the changes occuring. Including a regular practice of Qi Gong in your d...aily routine is a wonderful way to support your wellbeing and harmonise your nervous system. Qi Gong literally translates to 'Energy Exercise' and supports the smooth flow of Qi in your body, producing a similar effect to an Acupuncture treatment. While Acupuncture treatments are currently on hold, I encourage you to practice Qi Gong - and hopefully continue well beyond treatments recommencing! I'm so glad to share with you this simple routine to strengthen the Lungs, presented by the esteemed Peter Deadman. I found it to be wonderfully calming and grounding - let me know what you think in the comments below

16.01.2022 Feeling very grateful to Val's LGBTI Ageing & Aged Care for their excellent presentation this evening on supporting older members of the LBGTI community in healthcare. It was wonderful to see a wide range of healthcare modalities present in the group, all working towards a better understanding of supporting this important intersection of the community. https://www.latrobe.edu.au//hea/lgbti-ageing-and-aged-care

16.01.2022 When you are on a path of wellness, it can be so easy to focus on all there is to do...what to eat, what not to eat, how and when to exercise, what treatments to get, what habits to develop and let go of, tests to get, supplements to take, appointments to book and attend...the list can go on till managing your health is like a part-time job! Remember, to remember, to rest, and be. There may be a tendency to want to 'do' more so you feel you are being active and moving towards... your health goals with purpose. And yet, resting, is progressing! Be kind to yourself, make time this weekend to simply stop and pause, a deep long pause. This is as much, if not more a part of all the 'active' components of your wellbeing journey. Rest, integrate and be. Thank you Leunig for this wonderful reminder and inspiration <3

15.01.2022 'This may be challenging, but these are the things I can control.' In uncertain times it is so valuable to regularly ground yourself and return to your centre. One simple technique is to identify what you can control right now. Perhaps you can control where you will go on your daily walk, or what you will eat for lunch. Even if you can just find one thing, your nervous system starts to shift from a stress state to one of ease and harmony, getting you back on track. Little and often, gently does it <3

Continuing with your regular appointment helps creat...e stability and grounding; this is so valuable in times of uncertainty. 10.01.2022 Happy Spring! I have recently returned from enjoying some restorative time in nature - meditating, reconnecting with myself and the Earth and receiving the gifts that come with stillness and silence. It is with great joy that I bring these gifts into my treatment space to share; overflowing my cup that is full of connection to the web of life! It is a great privilege for me to hold space for others who come to reconnect with themselves and attend to their wellbeing. It can be... a huge step to prioritise oneself when life may be pulling you in many directions; to choose your own internal needs when external demands are unrelenting. In taking time out - pausing, listening and responding with care to yourself, you are giving a gift to your future self. The first step is often to sit....let go of the day thus far...and have a calming cup of tea in my cosy waiting area. I look forward to welcoming you there! Wishing you moments of ease and spaciousness on this glorious day. What can you do today for which your future self will thank you? How can you take a pause for yourself, wherever you are? Go gently, be kind to yourself.

10.01.2022 My thoughts and care are with all Victorians as we go through this next round of restrictions. Appointments remain available in person at Healing Well Castlemaine, and online for Moonee Ponds Mind Body Health Centre. It's normal to feel overwhelmed; be gentle with yourself and focus on the things you can control. Name them to yourself, write them down and stick it on the fridge! Do the same with something you feel grateful for......sunshine.....spring blossom......bird calls.......a message from a friend. Perhaps you are that friend who wrote a message - try it, you could truly brighten someone's day....

Next week is fully booked at this stage and then I go on a (rare!) holiday for a couple of weeks, so jump online this evening if you'd like a treatment before the end of March in this beautiful space <3 https://flourishchiropractic.com.au/appointments/

02.01.2022 Spring in Melbourne! What a whirlwind of a weather rollercoaster.....it can be baffling for our bodies to face such a quick succession of different weather patterns putting a strain on our capacity to adapt. Transitions can be tricky and seasonal ones no less so! If your immune system is struggling with hayfever or colds that grab hold with the sudden chill factor, come along and enjoy an acupuncture treatment to boost, soothe and nourish your mind and body. Support your system now to arrive in Summer feeling refreshed, energised and clear.

02.01.2022 This is your friendly reminder to switch off your devices this weekend for a period of time, and tune into the things that nourish and recharge YOU! What does that look like for you? For me it's all about finding a tree that's comfy to sit under, tuning into my senses and simply noticing what I notice - birds singing, leaves falling, the feel of the grass... Taking time to pause isn't a luxury, it's a necessity <3

01.01.2022 Chinese medicine has many supportive resources to offer during your pregnancy. The final weeks particularly are a vital time to receive support as you prepare for birth. Online appointments can provide you with simple techniques to regulate your nervous system, helpful acupressure points to support a smooth and efficient labour and tools to guide your partner in supporting your birth. Generating oxytocin, the 'feel good' hormone, is a great way to prepare for birth and stren...gthen the positive cascade of birth hormones that supports a healthy birth. Activities that help generate oxytocin include: spending time in nature, relaxation, eye contact, acupressure, rhythmic movements of dance, singing and sharing a meal (even over video!)
