24.01.2022 TWINS! Twice the kisses. Twice the cuddles, Twice the giggles, Twice the love Shout out to all the multiples Mums! . . .... (This photo was set up in a studio, paper backdrop not water. Always promoting water safety). See more
24.01.2022 Old post but thought I’d re-share. Take a screenshot and then you’ve got it as a reminder. Just be mindful with our hot WA weather, I’d recommend putting your expressed milk straight into the fridge unless you are using it fairly soon. When you need to warm up some milk in a bottle, just take out of the fridge what you need for the feed. Once it’s warmed you can’t put back in fridge for a later time. So always just take what you think you’ll need and can always warm up more if needed. Would you like this as a fridge magnet with the milk storage guidelines? Would that be helpful? Let me know and I’ll get some made up
22.01.2022 Starting solids! This is a frequently asked question. When do I start solids? What do I do then about breastfeeding? I have no idea where to start? I have written a brief guide to starting solids with a focus on breastfeeding and how to navigate through this. The ebook is available on my website $10 and is a short guide 10 pages on some practical steps. If you are looking for a thorough guide with support then I recommend @hernourishedkids programs, I purchased one for when my son was starting solids and found it fantastic!
21.01.2022 Sleep is not linear. When I teach about child sleep I like to give realistic expectations. When we look at the massive growth and development our babies have up until 12 months of age, no wonder they don’t sleep consistently through this time. I tend to not like the term ‘sleep regression’ as it doesn’t really make sense to me. What are they regressing from? They are not going backwards. If anything they are going forwards, growing, learning and developing. I like to term th...is ‘sleep change’. So what can I help you with in terms of sleep? We can go through normal sleep behaviour for your child’s age, look at how we can make their sleep environment nice and comfortable for a good nap/night sleep, make sure they are thriving and feeding is going well, looking at reading your baby’s body language and making sure you are coping. If you like this idea, I have a sleep ebook on my philosophy. Link in bio I can also do home visits and online consults to help you with your newborn to 4 year old and beyond. It is also a great little read before baby arrives x See more
20.01.2022 Smooth sailing? What if things are going great for you on your breastfeeding journey? I’m adding a new service! This will be a short visit (30-40 mins) at home with no follow up. It is a great opportunity for you to meet me, I can weigh baby, check your latch, answer any questions you might have, provide you with support and any recommendations. It is also great if you’ve seen me before with my home visit package but you just want to touch base again, doesn’t have to be a... particular problem to see me. Research shows the number one reason women continue to breastfeed longer term is the support from their partner and also their community. Just want a quick check in and chat about how things are going. I’m your girl! Lactation advice isn’t just for newborns, it is for any stage you are feeding. My ‘Smooth Sailing’ visit is available now. DM to book. $60. Spots available Mon, Tues, Wed this week coming #lactationconsultant #breastfeeding #support #homevisits #ibclc See more
18.01.2022 I’ve had some amazing success for my clients and I can wait to keep getting my business out there to help other Mums! Thank you for all the recommendations and referrals. Each and every one of my clients are the most incredible Mums, I am so proud of them! I love being a small part of their breastfeeding journey and feel so privileged to be asked to help in such a vulnerable time. I may be bias but our little slice of paradise called the Midwest is pretty darn amazing. It also makes me so happy to know my son will be growing up surrounded by these beautiful families in our community All my love, Aleisha. Have an amazing weekend with your little ones x
16.01.2022 I did a question box on here at the beginning of the year. I thought I’d share some of the beautiful answers. One of my questions was; Q:What is the best thing about being a Mum; A:The love. All the love, the hugs, the kisses, the magic. And watching them sleep A:Being their safe place with unconditional love... A:The proud moments, the sheer love, the love you get back. Q:What is the one thing you learnt from 2020. A:Shit happens A:Patience A:We aren’t in control A:That I am doing a good job. To trust my gut and that there is a fierce Mumma bear in here. I love this platform for sharing and connecting! Let’s do some more questions! If there is something you want me to ask other Mums let me know and I’ll pop it on my stories and I can share all the responses See more
10.01.2022 I wanted to shed light on a not so common issue in breastfeeding. I like to make sure as a IBCLC that I am inclusive of all women with different backgrounds, conditions and experiences. A condition called dysphoric milk ejection reflex or D-MER, affects only a few percentage of women but I have seen it in my time working with breastfeeding mothers and been able to support them with successful breastfeeding longer term. D-MER occurs seconds before a let-down and then can occ...ur with each let-down in a feeding session. It only lasts seconds to a few minutes but is described as a deep stomach churning, pit of your stomach feeling within negative emotions that can vary from mild to severe. It is caused by a drop in dopamine before a let-down. Women tend to notice this dysphoria (feelings of anxiety, discomfort or distress) anywhere from a few weeks post partum and in most cases the symptoms seem to settle around the 2-3 month mark. I wanted to let you know that this condition exists, in case there are Mums out there experiencing these feelings while breastfeeding. My advice would be to go see your GP and have a chat about your symptoms to make sure you get a thorough assessment to rule out other causes and then if this is diagnosed, a referral to me to help you with some strategies and support. This is a good reminder that if you notice something is not quite right or that you find you are the only one struggling through something (doesn’t have to be BF related) to seek help. There might be a very good explanation for it and treatment and support out there to help you. Never struggle in silence See more
10.01.2022 Those hard days teach us how resilient and strong we really are! A mothers intuition and strength is so incredible to see. If you are having a tough time with feeding please get in touch. Fresh eyes on the situation and some support and advice can make all the difference. My approach is super gentle, caring and non judgemental. It’s easy to think that everyone else around you is having an easy time but I can assure you we all struggle but the key point is, we don’t have to do it alone. Breastfeeding is very natural but there wouldn’t be IBCLCs if it was easy and no one ever had a problem. Remember that x #lactationconsultant #ibclc #breastfeeding #breastfeedingjourney #motherhood #baby

02.01.2022 My demonstration boobs made locally by @boabandfoxcrochet They are just perfect! I use these to demonstrate breastfeeding techniques, latching, nipple shield application, flange size and fit, blocked ducts, massage and self examination for detection of breast lumps. I thought it would be a bit of a strange request to ask for some boobs to be made but the girls were straight on board and they are just awesome!! #supportlocal #lactationconsultant #breastfeeding #crochet #crochetbreast #ibclc #mum #baby #newborn #mumandbub
