24.01.2022 Whatever your training goals are keep in mind that after the session is done your body must... 1.RECOVER 2.REPAIR 3.GROW/ADAPT... Initial resources go to recovery from the training session you have just done. Then repair of the micro-damage done to the muscles and other tissues can take place. Finally allowing the muscle growth and strength adaptation to occur. If you train too frequently, with too much intensity or dont take care of your recovery with diet, hydration, sleep and structural integrity with chiropractic care and massage then you wont be at your best. My primary goal is strength, which means I like to handle relatively heavy weights to make my body adapt. To keep my body performing, I make sure to have regular chiropractic appointments (yes, chiropractors also use chiropractic!) so that I can maximise my ability to recover, repair and adapt. What is the purpose of your exercise routine? To get stronger? Fitter? Put on muscle? Reduce body fat? Keep your bone density healthy? If there is one take away you get from learning about posture, its that the TIME spent in those positions is what matters MOST. If you MOVE OFTEN, then the position you are in does not matter as much! So get as creative as you want with your posture, but keep switching it up! See more

16.01.2022 Heres Dr James sharing some wisdom to keep yourself and your family healthy and safe during these challenging times. 5 simple steps we are taking at Thrive to keep you and your family safe: We are not concerned with getting sick, these tips and safety precautions are primarily intended to minimise the spread of this particularly virulent virus.... # 1. We ask you to please wash your hands with soap and water before and after your appointment. (hand sanitiser is the second option despite what the supermarket shelves say). # 2. We are disinfecting the tables after each client. #3. Dr James is vigilant in washing his hands before and after each client. #4. If you are unwell we ask that you self isolate and reschedule your appointment until you are better * (unless youve been assessed and cleared medically) #5. If you have travelled overseas within the last 7 days we ask that you please call to reschedule your appointment for a further 7 days to see if symptoms develop. * We typically advocate you getting checked when youre unwell because it can aid in your recovery, however in this unique situation we ask that you stay away until you feel better. The single best thing you can do is to wash you hands with soap and water. (This is actually Tamlyns emoji )... But lets not forget that by far, a bigger determiner of whether you get sick or not is your biological resilience, or how strong your immune system is. And this is largely controlled by your gut microbiome. In a time where we there is potential to feel a bit out of control, one of the things you CAN control is what you put in your body during this time. ... In addition to eating well - Vit C, Zinc orotate, Vit D and Medicinal mushrooms (eg Chaga) are thought to be some great immune boosters. Also if you arent aware of it yet, look into periodic intermittent fasting which improves your microbiome diversity as well as so many other great health benefits, plus - its inexpensive.
