25.01.2022 Last week the children at Thrive Pyrmont made poppies in celebration for ANZAC day. Today the children went to St Helens Community Centre in Glebe and handed them out to the elderly ladies who were playing bingo. The children were very excited to catch the lightrail across to Glebe and walk over to the community centre. They were holding hands with a friend, listening carefully to their educators and looking for cars and oncoming traffic. It was a great opportunity to discu...ss the importance of road safety. When we arrived first we explored the community garden and seen all the fresh fruit, veggies and plants growing in the garden. The children had conversations with the ladies and handed each of them a poppy before leaving. Thrive Pyrmont would like to thank Louise and St Helens Community Centre for having us today.

24.01.2022 The children at our Pyrmont Centre spent the day in our very own mini wet and wild. Today the children were surprised by our slip and slide, mini pool and T-ball sprinkler when they went outside. ... We got dressed in our cozzies, put our sunscreen on, our hats and went out to play. On the slip and slide we ran up and slide down on our bellys, we then put water on our green slide and went down it really fast. The children figured out how to wet the teachers by standing on the side of the slips and slide and the water would shoot up and wet all the teachers. What better way to spend a hot summers day!

24.01.2022 Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone celebrating this year. Our educators and children at Thrive Pyrmont came dressed in green today.

The children have learnt so much during this time, they are able to tell you all about planets such as the shape, size, colour and temperatures.

We were then given the opportunity to go and see the fire engine the children took turns in exploring the inside of the truck. The fireman then took the hose from the fire engine and everyone got a chance to turn it on. There were loads of exciting sh...rieks as the water sprayed really high out of the hose. Thrive ELC Pyrmont would like to thank Pyrmont Fire Station for the visit.

When we arrived at Ultimo the children participated in a sports program, literacy experience and maths cl...ass. They looked at the bathrooms and used the bubblers to have a drink of water. Thrive ELC Pyrmont would like to thank Ultimo Public School for allowing our preschool children to participate in this wonderful experience.

18.01.2022 Tonight our educators at Pyrmont had a team building session. We split into teams and our educators worked together using an assortment of paper, scissors, glue and tape to make a protection barrier for an egg. Our educators worked hard communicating with one another to form the barrier with only 5 minutes to discuss and build. ... Once the timer was up we held the eggs above our head and dropped them to the ground hoping the eggs would survive the fall. Well done team Pyrmont! You truly are an amazing team with so much dedication and passion for what you do each and every day.

11.01.2022 This morning at Thrive Pyrmont our 3-5 room set out on their adventure to Pyrmont Post office. First, We talked about what we needed to wear such as gumboots, raincoats and hi vis jackets. The children were very excited once we began our discussion and were keen to leave as soon as possible. The rain certainly did not put a damper on the excursion. Everyone put their jackets and gum boots on while we assisted each child with putting their hi vis vests on. Once everyone was re...ady to go, we gathered the letters we were going to post and each child partnered up with another child to hold hands while we walked to the post office. We began walking to the post office and made sure we used our safe crossing code. Each time we came to cross the road, all the children stopped, looked left and right, and checked to make sure there were no cars coming before crossing the road. On our way the children came across puddles which they splashed in excitedly. Upon arriving to the post office we stopped to look at the post box outside and we discussed what goes into the post box. We proceeded to walk into the post office where the children asked about different things inside which included envelopes, bubble wrap, parcels, toys and sweets. The children had the opportunity to walk around the post office to look at all the supplies. In order to post our letters we needed to buy stamps. All the children gathered around as we bought stamps from the sales person behind the counter. We discussed with the children on what to do next once we had bought the stamps and they informed the teachers that we had to stick the stamps on the envelopes. We then went to the counter to stick the stamps on the envelopes. There was a sponge with water in a tub which we pressed the stamps on before placing the stamp on the envelopes. We then proceeded to go outside to post our letters. Each child had a turn to post a letter in the post box and we talked about where the letters would go. All the children showed enthusiasm and excitement as they posted the letters. Once we had posted all the letters we began to walk back to the Thrive. The children all walked together holding hands and jumping in puddles they could see on the footpaths. Once we arrived back from the excursion, the children asked when we would be going on the next excursion and where it would be. We are already looking forward to our next excursion and are excited to make it a regular activity for the children.
