17.01.2022 We open indoors again tomorrow along with our fellow local gyms and studios in which we are stoked to see offering their fitness and wellness services again and keeping our town happy and healthy. Great things always come from adversity. We've all picked ourselves up every.single.time. Not only us, our trainers, but also our members. We've all experienced every emotion on the spectrum, and came out 'not only surviving but thriving' as quoted by one of our gorgeous members @ti...na_wilsonn at one of our last outdoor sessions in the rain this morning At this stage, the numbers and restrictions are still tight, so we aren't taking on newbies unless it's for privates in a few weeks. Please email [email protected] to go on a waiting list for classes or enquire P.S our infrared sauna still can't operate, so members please feel free to use this room to stretch or meditate in after class instead and use the @plan.be.fitness for guidance. X

05.01.2022 3 WAYS TO KNOW WHEN YOU SHOULD INCREASE YOUR WEIGHTS IN THE GYM: Before you reach for a heavier set of dumbbells, your first priority should be making sure your weight lifting technique is on-point (that's what us coaches are there for!) - But here's just a couple of helpful cues/questions to ask yourself: 1. PROGRESS: Have you been on the same weight for the same amount of reps for a long time? Generally we want to increase, even slightly, every 3 months or so (either the re...ps or the weight, but for the purpose of this post we are talking weight). Over time, your muscles adapt to the stress, and you must once again increase the weight or reps. This is the marker of progress. To create change physically, in image and strength, you need to gradually increase the difficulty of your workouts. As your workouts get harder, your muscles will become more toned and stronger. This is the concept of progressive overload. Exercises must place additional stress on your muscles, either by lifting more weight or doing more reps. 2. FEEL: Do you feel like you could do a hundred reps without stopping? It's time to up the ante! You should not train with a weight that doesn't require your full concentration and strength to move safely before you even start your sets. If you don't continually challenge your body, you'll struggle to make progress. Do you work out and not feel your muscles contracting through each rep? Well, if that burn is missing, it's time for you to up the weight you're lifting! A real workout means putting in effort in the gym, and that means feeling the burn while you're training. 3. CONTROL: Can you control the weight too easily on the negative part of the movement without shaking and without sacrificing your form? Still make sure you can control the weight when you increase because quality is much more important than quantity - but if it's still too easy on the negative and you're not even a little shaky... It's time to go up!
