22.01.2022 As the new Financial Year closes in there are a number of legislative changes to be aware of. Of particular note is the 50% reduction to minimum payments from Superannuation Pensions. If you are drawing a regular income from a Superannuation Pension your minimum payment will reduce by 50% by default at 1st July. Do remember that you can alter your payments at any time however if you currently receive the minimum amount, your payment will reduce.... 20.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has been a reminder for many that Income Protection policies do not pay out in the event of job loss or unemployment. Whilst some policies do provide some minor ancillary benefits in this event, ultimately Income Protection is designed to provide benefits in the event of being unable to work due to illness or injury. Recent research by Canstar revealed that of the 16.7 per cent of respondents that had income protection insurance, nearly half (49.5 per cent) took out the cover in case they lost their job and income.

09.01.2022 Here is an easy to use "Retirement Tracker" from #superguru that you can use to get a quick indication as to how your retirement is tracking.

05.01.2022 Some interesting commentary from Vanguard in this article regarding share market performance during a recession: "Rather the result was the opposite: equities actually do better during a recession than the conventional wisdom would have us believe. That record holds true here. Australia has not suffered a recession since 1990-91, but during the four quarters that the country was in recession, the ASX All Ordinaries Index rose nearly 13 per cent.... This counterintuitive outcome is because equities markets tend to price in the future rather effectively."
