23.01.2022 Don’t forget that applications for this education grant are still open!

20.01.2022 I spent today reflecting on our goals for Thrive Medical for 2021. One of our Psychologists posted this on her page today and our goal for Thrive and for the community of Broken Hill is to know exactly this. We have back pain and we don’t think twice about booking in to see a physio. We need a vaccination and we see the Doctor. Yet for some reason, we find it hard to book in to see a Psychologist, or a Counsellor. We need to normalise speaking to someone when you know thin...gs aren’t quite right. When you are in a rut and your not sure how to get out of it. When the bad bits seem bigger than the good bits. When your anxiety about situations is making you feel powerless. I’ve been racking my brain at HOW we do this. And I think the only way is by talking about it. Making it part of our conversations with our kids, with our work colleagues, with our family. Remember; we all deserve, and are worthy of, an unbiased, safe and productive opportunity to sort through what life has thrown our way and to process what we go through. Talking with a mental health professional doesn’t mean we are messed up or crazy. See more

09.01.2022 What is an Occupational Therapist?? Great question Occupational Therapy is a profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do. They consider: ... Person Occupation Environment We love this story as it recognises that occupations are more than something we get paid to do. It’s how we choose to occupy our time at whatever age. Also love the creative way this family modified the environment so their Grandfather could still be a part of harvest.

06.01.2022 SELF SABOTAGING behaviours are any type of behaviour that prevents you from achieving what you desire. In addition to the below pic, I’d also add: extreme i...ndependence looking for problems that aren’t (rationally) there people pleasing behaviours changing yourself to be accepted by others crediting external forces for your successes, and avoiding positive opportunities Most of the time, the behaviour(s) are in response to negative beliefs we hold about ourselves: I am not good enough , I am damaged , I am unloveable , I hate myself , I am not important and I don’t deserve good things are some of the common ones.
