23.01.2022 This activity is fun, uses recycled materials and encourages bird life to your garden! Don't worry if you don't have the exact materials....its easy to improvise using anything around the house that you think may work.. * If you don't have a specific tool for making a hole in the can, you can just tie it up by looping string around each end FLOWER BIRD FEEDER... MATERIALS Clean, opened cans with labels removed Spray paint in choice of colours Pre-cut wide foam flowers (available at most craft stores) OR coloured card. Large wooden or plastic beads Thick wool or string TOOLS Drill with drill bits or metal punch Hot glue gun and glue sticks INSTRUCTIONS On the side of each can, use a ruler to measure cm from each end in a straight line. Then mark a dot at each of these points with a permanent marker. Use a drill or metal punch to make holes over the dots. These two holes are where you will insert the string for hanging it. In a well-ventilated area, spray paint the outside of your cans in various colours. Apply as many coats as needed for full coverage and let dry 24-48 hours. Lay the open end of each can on a foam flower or on coloured card. Trace around the circle opening with a pencil. Inside the circle either freehand or use a compass to draw another circle about cm smaller all around. Use a ruler to draw several crisscrossing straight lines inside the original traced circle (like the way a pizza is cut). First cut out the small inner circle. Then cut along each crisscrossing line, stopping at the traced outline of the original circle. This will make several tabs around the inner perimeter. Lay the flower face down on a flat surface. Apply a ring of hot glue around the perimeter of the traced circle. Then place the open end of the can aligned on top of the hot glue ring. Hold the can firmly in place until the glue dries. Hot glue each of the cut tabs down on the interior of the can rim to further secure the foam flower in place. Cut a 30-40 cm piece of string for each of your cans. Thread one end through the back hole, inside of the can and back up through the front hole. With even lengths of string, place several large beads on each loose end. Knot the top of the twine to secure the hanger with beads in place. Repeat for each can feeder.

12.01.2022 New week New goals New opportunities

12.01.2022 Getting creative is so valuable for our well being. When we become immersed in creative activities we can't help but be present. Creativity encourages connection, intrinsic motivation, satisfaction, passion, joy, happiness... all the types of feelings that give us wholeness and abundance.... Today we made leaf mandalas. A fabulous project for kids (of all ages) when they need a break from the school work and routine. Take a walk out in nature and collect things off the ground such as leaves, gumnuts, small twigs or bark. All you need is a large piece of paper, card, or the side of a cardboard box. Design your work by placing the materials on first, then use either PVA craft glue or a gluegun to stick everything in place. We may even paint the leaves tomorrow when the glue has dried! Please share your creative designs with us as we'd love to post them on our page and brighten everyone's day!! Happy designing

10.01.2022 Remember...notice the small things to feel grateful for... Happy Sunday

09.01.2022 Do you or your kids need a little inspiration to help with keeping up structure and daily routine? As much as we love spending time with our offspring, it can become challenging to keep everyone occupied and happy, especially when working and schooling from home. Setting goals and creating balance every day contributes to a feeling of self worth and sense of achievement.... Planning the week in advance gives kids something to look forward to, puts them in charge of their own time and teaches them intrinsic motivation. (the feeling of doing something because you love it and is internally rewarding...makes you feel good ) This is a planner our kids are currently using whilst home schooling. It includes space to timetable learning, must do's, other to-do's, healthy habits, a drinking water reminder and a chosen act of kindness for the week. They fill in a new plan each Sunday night and post it their bedrooms, ticking off things as they are completed or achieved. Younger children will need some help with ideas and filling in the plan whilst older kids and teens are more than happy to take it away and complete independently. We encourage that these areas are considered to create a balanced week- * Learning - education * Social - keeping connections with friends * Family time - activities, games, outside adventures * Food - planning, preparation and eating meals together * Physical exercise - playing, walking, work-outs * Nature - gardening, cycling, ball games, anything outside * Quiet time - reading, resting, meditation * Entertainment - devices, video games and TV * Household contribution - jobs around the house * Environment - creating spaces that feel organised and enjoyable to spend time in. This plan is our favourite. If you would like us to send you a PDF please send your email address via messenger. If you have any questions on how to use or implement the plan please fire ahead! We are here to support and assist in any way we can. You'll LOVE it!!!
