23.01.2022 It’s that time of year again when we are starting to see a lot of horses with impaction colic As the feed dries off and the nights are cooling down, many horses are not drinking enough water. Make sure you check all your troughs to ensure they are clean and drinkable. Monitor horses to ensure they are drinking If your horses are not drinking enough water you can try a few tricks - add salt to feed... - add a small amount of molasses to water buckets - add electrolytes to water - use electrolyte/recovery pastes after work to encourage drinking - feed wet feeds such as soaked beet pulp, bran mash etc See more

04.01.2022 Turned up to a Sunday emergency and discovered a stow-away in the canopy. Not sure she enjoyed her experience as a vet assistant

02.01.2022 We have been seeing a lot of horses with respiratory viruses lately. In most cases these viruses are like a common cold for us, but there are some nasties out there that can cause some serious complications, including causing pregnant mares to abort Please follow basic biosecurity protocols- - Keep any sick horses separated from the others, especially high risk groups such as pregnant mares and young stock ... - Quarantine newly arrived horses in a separate paddock for 2 weeks and watch for signs of illness - When out at competitions avoid sharing feed and water buckets with horses from other properties and avoid contact with any sick horses If in doubt as always we are happy to answer any questions you may have
