23.01.2022 Once again we have had amazing support of the wider community in resourcing our activities to make them affordable for families. Northreach Baptist Church donated the use of their bus for our camp and have supported us in this manner for the last 5 years. We are so thankful for their support of our school and of the chaplaincy program of which they contribute significantly over the school year. Although there is a government grant for part of our chaplaincy program (covering about 1 day per week), the rest of the 2.5 days of chaplaincy service is funded through fund-raising, community support from those like Northreach and other individual and groups sponsors and the support of the school P&C.

The Year 12s enjoyed a feast of food, free Chappy frappes, a piñata and lawn games including quoits and giant jenga. It was great to see smiles on their faces!

Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions, we are unable to include the wonderful performance by Tia in our recording. https://youtu.be/JLxF_S11xag
03.01.2022 NATIONAL RESILIENT AUSTRALIA SCHOOL AWARD Thuringowa State High School has been awarded the National Resilient Australia School Award for their Qld Virtual STEM Academy program called Disaster Resilience for a Changing Climate Grand Challenge. The QVSA course enables students from across North Queensland to collaborate with each other and experts from a range of organisations including Townsville City Council, James Cook University, and Australian Institute for Disaster Resi...lience. During the course, the students are empowered to accept shared responsibility for disaster awareness and preparedness. Students become champions of building resilience both within themselves and others which is a life skill needed as climate change results in more intense disasters.
