24.01.2022 Salamanca Market resumes this Saturday. Originally I opted to trade, but the Victorian Covid crisis has now resulted in the market being scaled down in size. I've decided to 'sit it out' a little longer. Still looking forward to going as a customer though! Support the locals.

22.01.2022 Kemba, the Staffy cross, poses proudly in his MEDIUM TO LARGE coat. Not quite the natural habitat for a Tassie Tiger, but any dog can pretend their suburban back yard is the wilderness. www.madeit.com.au/ThylaScenePetWear Photo: Kahlin Williams
21.01.2022 Today is National Threatened Species Day, which raises awareness of plants and animals at the risk of extinction and celebrates the amazing work that passionate... conservationists, researchers and volunteers do to save them. 7 September is a significant date, as it marks the day when the last Tasmanian Tiger died in Hobart Zoo in 1936. It is believed to have died from the cold after being locked out of its sleeping quarters. Sadly, in the last 200 years over 100 plant and animal species have become extinct in Australia. Sharon from Thyla Scene will be supporting National Threatened Species Day and 15% of sales made via her online store this week will be donated to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal. Custom-made orders included. Her dog coats are a fitting way to remember the Tasmanian Tiger, as well as keeping your dog warm and comfortable. She uses remnant and recycled fabrics, thus reducing textile wastage to landfill. Located in southern Tasmania, Sharon and her family love their country life, the wildlife and community environment. Every year the University of Tasmania use their property to set Tassie Devil traps to assist in Devil Facial Tumour Disease research. You can find more of her range at https://salamancamarketstore.com.au/product-tag/thyla-scene/ and then follow the links to her website.
21.01.2022 Although the Thylacine was mainly nocturnal, it was sighted moving during the day and captive ones were recorded basking in the sun. Coat size: Small. Photos: Leila Buik www.madeit.com.au/ThylaScenePetWear
21.01.2022 Something to make you smile... Pip, the beautiful 13 year old rescue dog, showcasing her Tassie Tiger coat (size: Small). Thanks to Emma at Brightside Farm Sanctuary, for giving love and a new life to neglected animals. www.brightside.org.au
20.01.2022 THANK YOU pet ‘parents’! Your purchases made during my 15% off SALE have enabled me to donate $150 to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal. Established in 2003, and co-ordinated by the University of Tasmania, the Appeal relies on fundraising for research, to help save the devil from DFTD (Devil Facial Tumour Disease).
19.01.2022 Thanks to those who supported my small business this week by purchasing something for a special pet. I've decided to continue my SALE until what I'll call 'Tassie Tiger' TUESDAY. 15% from sales will be donated to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal, to assist with facial tumour disease research. 19.01.2022 WTF!!... (Wild Tiger Find). Seen today in broad daylight. Costal Victoria. Have you seen a Tassie Tiger?
19.01.2022 Bandanas have many benefits, especially for the busy dog. At a crowded dog park, 'parents' can locate their pet easily. At the vet they can put a dog at ease. At the local cafe they are great for the drooling dog. A Tassie Tiger one definitely makes a great fashion statement too. Photo: Flick Boucher

18.01.2022 Today is NATIONAL DOG DAY (26 August annually). The day is about recognising the love and value that dogs bring to our lives. They make us smile, laugh, lower stress, never judge you, keep you active, are loyal and will always be your best friend. Unfortunately, many dogs need to be rescued yearly due to neglect or abuse. Today is a day to pay tribute to these incredible animals. ADOPT, DON'T SHOP. Photos courtesy of Kirsty Pilkington www.kirstypilkington.com.au ‘Rappaw Prints’ animal themed greeting cards
15.01.2022 Meet Twiggy... not the famous 1960's British model, but Twiggy the Greyhound. Both top fashion icons though. Unique handmade coat, based on a LARGE size. Happy customer and happy hound.
15.01.2022 Today I donated some more Tassie Tiger coats to Brightside Farm Sanctuary and was thrilled to meet the owner, Emma. Such an amazing lady! Some of her rescue dogs were then treated to a beach trip. Jenny, the 3 legged greyhound, transformed into a Tassie Tiger and ran wild (wearing a 'large' size coat).
14.01.2022 . My husband, son and I recently took a road trip to the North West Coast and saw some serious wilderness! Known as ‘Tiger Country’. Abundantly filled with some of the oldest forests in the world, waterfalls, lakes, rivers and mountain ranges. As far as the Tassie Tiger goes, we searched with keen eyes, but no luck. Found plenty of ‘fake’ ones though. The search continues
13.01.2022 Happy ‘THYLACINE THURSDAY’. Today, until Sunday, I'm having a bargain bandana SALE! 25% off. These are all one-of-a-kind, stylish, and deal with drooling. I will no longer be making these, so once sold, they will officially be ‘extinct’. Pop to my shop for a Christmas present for your pet.... www.madeit.com.au/ThylaScenePetWear See more

12.01.2022 Bonorong is a sanctuary and rescue centre for injured/orphaned wildlife. Yesterday, my husband, son and I visited 'Bonorong' (Aboriginal meaning is 'Native Companion') to drop off a bundle of bandanas. I am excited to announce that these will be available in their gift shop in the near future (and also via my online store). They are light weight, breathable, and great for hot summer days - as they can be place in the fridge or freezer before wearing.

08.01.2022 Brightside Farm Sanctuary in Cygnet, Tasmania, rescue animals who have been subjected to cruelty, and re-home hundreds of animals every year. Emma Haswell, the owner, lovingly ensures animals are given a 2nd chance at life. Recently I donated some Tassie Tiger coats. It has been quite cold here in Tassie lately, so I hope her residents appreciate the warmth and security they provide. www.brightside.org.au

04.01.2022 In 1888 the Tasmanian Government established a Bounty Scheme, paying out 1 pound per thylacine carcass and 10 shillings for juveniles. It was considered a ‘pest’ and a dangerous threat to livestock. There is little evidence to support that they attacked sheep, and many claims were highly exaggerated. Wild dogs, introduced by European settlers, could have been the culprit too. In 1909 the bounty was removed. Over 2,000 bounties had been paid out. By then it was ...too late. The species was on the brink of extinction. This photo, that surfaced in the 1920's, is of a thylacine with a chicken in its mouth. Experts now believe it to be a staged photo with a taxidermy thylacine. They also believe the image was responsible for the assumption that the thylacine was a sheep and poultry predator. 03.01.2022 Recently released video footage of what clearly appears to be a Thylacine. A couple on the East Coast of Australia were fortunate enough to witness and film the sighting (exact location is 'classified information'). #idontbelievemyeyes
02.01.2022 OMG it's a P.U.G. ('Peculiar Unidentified Genus').
02.01.2022 Species unknown Domestic cat? Feral cat? Member of the ‘Big Cat’ family? Or just a friendly feline pretending to be a tame Tassie Tiger? Let your imagination run wild. www.madeit.com.au/ThylaScenePetWear
01.01.2022 Not 1, but 2 Tassie Tigers spotted in South Australia! Adopted ‘sisters’, Deidre and Lolly, both know the best way to fool humans into thinking they are Thylacines is to choose coats that blend in well with their skin tones. TWINNING and winning!
01.01.2022 Meet a true Aussie! Clancy, the Australian Cattle Dog. Banjo Paterson was a famous Australian poet who wrote ‘Clancy of the Overflow’ in 1889 a bush ballad about rural outback life. PICTURED: ‘Clancy and his Overcoat’
