25.01.2022 Thyroid Queen I see more and more cases of the long term side effects of the pill. Its used widely as a panacea for many women troubles. The pill disconnects part of the brain to the ovaries. This suppresses part of the brain that takes care of our temperature and stress hormones. If you are a teenager your natural hormones can never mature ( IVF is a norm these days).... The synthetics come in and affect the the thyroid hormones. The thyroid is no longer in charge and adrenals cannot make steroids efficiently. Whilst we need relief form hormonal problems, the pill suppresses hormones. Temporary relief on the pill is good, but increases chances of endometriosis, poly cystic ovaries much later down the road. This can cause weight resistance! 23.01.2022 Menopause and Pain! So many mysterious happen in menopause. More so in the western world than many other cultures. One of the things I did before menopause was to prepare! Prepare with acupuncture, yoga and relaxation techniques helped amazingly. Water and exercise, and fresh foods made a great difference! Beside that I took adaptogenic herbs to help my body cope!! This took care of the intermittent flooding bleeding. It did not stop but it made it easier!... If I had not done this a hysterectomy would be advised!!! No way!! Anita Vurv Thyroid Clinic

22.01.2022 Exercise is particularly important in the treatment program for hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. Exercise stimulates thyroid gland secretion and increases tissue sensitivity. The right type of exercise may help improve thyroid function. But for best results in it has to be the right type of exercise and at the right time in your journey to wellness. Below is a link to an article that talks about exercise and how it benefits and impacts people with low thyroid function and... people with hyper thyroid function, including suggestions on different types of exercises that you can enjoy. 22.01.2022 I cannot emphasise the the use of Vit D. It is not vitamin its actually a hormone. Very important when dealing with thyroid inflammation. I recommend using a spray Vit D and K (this balances calcium in your system!) and especially if on thyroxine to prevent bone damage.... 21.01.2022 We encourage the people that come to see us to go walk by the ocean! And part of that, if possible, say 10 minutes or so walking bare feet in the sand. Sometimes they might look at us rather strangely thinking well why would that be so beneficial? How can that help my thyroid problem? The article below shows that there is scientific evidence that going to the beach looking at the ocean, walking on the sand, and splashing in the water can lower stress levels among many other w...onderful benefits. Lowering stress levels lowers our stress hormones which then has the follow on effect of allowing our thyroid to do it's job more easily. Best of all having a walk by the ocean costs very little if anything at all! Enjoy. Helena Vurv Thyroid Clinic

21.01.2022 Thyroid Queen For some very challenging. For some barely noticeable. When I have travelled in remote areas of the world the local women do not encounter what we do! When they move into city life this changes. Can you think why?... Perhaps foods, community and lifestyle changes play a massive role? My motto is prepare! prepare! prepare. 19.01.2022 Thyroid Queen Coenzyme Q10 is a essential element for healthy bodily function. It helps the thyroid drive our metabolism, thyroid cells like every other cell in our body need coenzyme Q10 to function. People who have Graves' disease have a great and need for coenzyme Q10 and as we age we produce list of this molecule. ... This molecule is predominantly made in our liver, so if our liver is under strain it is logical to think that we may produce less coenzyme Q10. Aditionally some medications interfere with the production of coenzyme Q10. The article below explains the importance of this molecule. Enjoy. Helena Vurv Thyroid Clinic

19.01.2022 Thyroid Queen If we have a problem of excess bleeding, fibroids or pelvic problems the answer is get a hysterectomy! I understand if one is hemorrhaging we have no option! This brings on early menopause without the body having a chance to to prepare for the transition. If you are experiencing hormonal havoc, first step is too find a practitioner who specializes. Honestly there are magnificent herbs that balance hormones naturally by talking to the eostrogen and progesterone.... Even if you a hysterectomy the imbalance of hormones will remain and cause inflammation even without a uterus. Here are options to look before you get into major crisis. Hormonal havoc is prevalent and the best news is that it can be overcome with correct therapy and herbs. Mothers teach your daughters to seek help. Going on the pill will not cure and can be the cause, like a boiling kettle with a lid it simmers away underneath. Anita Happy Hormone Happy World

18.01.2022 For patients who have thyroid problems especially, hypothyroidism, goitrogenic or cruciferous vegetables can make the situation worse. It is suggested that they should limit their intake of cruciferous vegetables to one cooked serving per day. But what are goitrogenic foods? Goitrogens substances that interrupt the production of thyroid hormones by interfering with the uptake of iodine in the thyroid gland which can lead to the growth of a goiter in the neck. The article belo...w will outline what foods are best to avoid or limit and how we can prepare them to reduce the effect on our thyroid. Enjoy. Helena.

18.01.2022 When I research I often find other reasons why I really appreciate the program that we offer our clients and Vurv clinic. I often say to our clients that when we look after the thyroid we look after the whole body. The article below is an excellent example of this. This article explains to us how important the spleen is and how in Traditional Chinese Medicine it has so many functions linked to our motivation and feelings of positivity.... When you read this article you may notice that it includes many things that we encourage our patients to do, for example to be grateful, and to be positive and mindful. Additionally at Vurv clinic we also support the immune system and the digestive system, why? These systems affect and are affected by the thyroid and as the article points out. A 'deficient spleen" is characterized by sadness, loose stools, fatigue, confusion, feelings of being overwhelmed, poor digestion, week and immunity. The article gives lifestyle suggestions and foods to strengthen our spleen. Enjoy. Helena

15.01.2022 Vitamin D, I have had recently been reminded of the benefits of getting the right amount of vitamin D. What can it do for us? 13.01.2022 Our thyroid is an often underrated gland in our body, but has such an enormous impact on our hormones and their functions. Often conditions such as anxiety, depression, poor memory, weight gain, constipation, and symptoms linked to an imbalance in our estrogen.and progesterone are connected to how well our thyroid is functioning. For example T3 our active thyroid hormone, the one that does the work in our bodies, controls the production of different kinds of our 'feel good' b...rain chemicals like serotonin and GABA. Therefore if we had low thyroid function and we're not making enough of the active T3, this will literally affect the way we think and feel. The article below gives us more understanding of the importance of our thyroid gland, and what we can do to help support this important that much forgotten gland.

06.01.2022 DEPRESSION AND THE CONTRACEPTIVE PILL The number of women I see in clinic that have misdiagnosed DEPRESSION due to the side effects of the birth control is unnecessary and disabling women to live a good wholesome life!!! Here are studies that show evidence is very strong that birth control causes depression. Depression as a side effect of the contraceptive pill... Jayashri Kulkarni Pages 371-374 | Published online: 09 Aug 2007 Download citation https://buff.ly/3eFayQX Abstract Millions of women worldwide use the combined oral contraceptive pill as an effective form of contraception. However, the focus on its side effects to date has mainly been on physical aspects, even though the most commonly stated reason for discontinuation is depression. There are surprisingly few large studies investigating depression related to oral contraceptive use. A pilot study was conducted showing that women using the combined oral contraceptive pill were significantly more depressed than a matched group who were not. More research is needed to better inform women and doctors about depression related to oral contraceptive use, and clinical guidelines are needed regarding the different types of oral contraceptives and their potential depressogenic properties.
