23.01.2022 To all our beautiful TIA supporters, We hope you are well and keeping safe and healthy during the challenging time we find ourselves in. As a result of some unforeseen circumstances that we have come up against in the last few months, as well as the uncertainty that the world is facing currently, we have had to make the very difficult decision to suspend TIAs operations both in Bolivia and in Australia until further notice. We will be revisiting the situation in a year after... assessing alternatives and will provide an update accordingly. We have been working on a way for our projects to continue. Our founder Tessa has written a longer statement that goes into a bit more detail about everything, which you can read on our website http://tia.org.au/e/current-situation/. It was our 11th anniversary since TIA was born in April. We are so incredibly proud of everything TIA has achieved during this time. 12.01.2022 United Together! TIAs work is able to continue with Kallpa Foundation Trabajo Digno We are very happy to be able to announce that TIA and Kallpa Foundation - Project Dignified Work, are uniting together. Over the last few years, we have collaborated closely. A wonderful friendship was formed between the two organisations and our teams.... Back at the end of April we shared that unfortunately TIA has had to suspend our operations until further notice. So to ensure that our projects are able to continue, we decided to transfer them to our friends at Kallpa Foundation. We had to work out all the details, so now we want to share with you all, our followers, young people, partners, and friends, that after a lot of work, we have a signed agreement between TIA and Kallpa Foundation, officially transferring our projects to Kallpa Foundation to continue under their umbrella. Due to the global pandemic and the minute detail that an agreement of this nature requires, it took us longer than planned to reach this point. But we are very happy to finally announce that many of TIAs projects will continue with Kallpa Foundation. 10.01.2022 Three years ago our Founder Tessa Henwood-Mitchell was featured in this 7NEWS Adelaide report about the harm that orphanages can do to children, and how we should focus on supporting families to prevent children going into orphanages in the first place. At TIA Australia we wholeheartedly believe in the right that every child has to grow up in a family. Our work is aimed at supporting young care leavers to help them have healthy families in the future and prevent their own children going into care. #FamiliesNotOrphanages

09.01.2022 This is such a heartbreaking story and so similar to what our young people in Bolivia face. We often call it the second abandonment, when the State abandons these children at 18 after their birth families already have years prior (for various complex reasons). All children deserve a family, and that shouldnt stop at the age of 18. #CareLeavers #SecondAbandonment

08.01.2022 TIA holds an annual event for teenagers from different homes to meet and mingle with each other whilst learning essential life skills such as budgeting and using their time wisely. This event is a fantastic way to allow teens to learn these skills in a novel environment and make some new friends they otherwise wouldnt have met! 07.01.2022 We recently had our dear friend and leadership coach Alex deliver a workshop to staff from several childrens homes on how to best prepare teens to transition into independence using coaching skills. Workshops like these are vital to TIAs goals as they train the staff members who have contact with these children everyday to provide long term support for the gradual transition into adulthood.

03.01.2022 TIA was very proud to represent Bolivia at the 4th Congress of the Latin American Network for Young Care Leavers, called Path to Autonomy, in the city of Mexico. Three members of our team in Bolivia, plus four young people from Bolivia (representing TIA Bolivia, UNICEF Bolivia and Aldeas Infantiles SOS Bolivia) attended the congress and spoke in various panels and workshops, sharing experiences and perspectives of young care leavers in Bolivia. We also presented the finding...s from a regional research report that was recently organised as a collaborative effort between 6 countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Mexico), organised by UNICEF Latin America and Caribbean and Doncel Asociacin Civil on behalf of the Red Latinoamericana de Egresados de Proteccin for which TIA was the country coordinator of the Bolivia chapter. comis The congress ended with the presentation of a Declaration written by the young care leavers in attendance, that outlines their demands and recommendations to improve young care leaver outcomes for the Latin American states imoc noi (you can read the document in Spanish here: https://bit.ly/33rKvGG). The Young Care Leavers Network that TIA supports organised the entire event! It was a day full of fun and games, new friendships, workshops, and learning.
