14.01.2022 Literacy is such a gift and there are so many ways we can offer it to our children each and every day! Here are just a few simple examples of ways that you can support your learner's literacy and language development in their daily life: ask your child to dictate the instructions of their favourite board game or toy ... pose questions to your child after a movie or episode of their favourite show (this is a great way to assess their comprehension skills!) describe your routine actions/refer to common objects out loud and by name so that younger learners can soak up all those verbs and nouns! encourage your learner to help read road signs, labels, menus, or posters when you're out and about & of course, pick up a book! I know life can get busy, so even if you aren't sitting down to read with your kids every night, just having a couple of books that they can easily access and flip through on their own will expose them to so many learning opportunities.
