03.01.2022 Looking for help to tutor people on computers, media devices at Tiaro Beconnected. Hi all, ... The Tiaro & District Community Centre Inc provide a service under the umbrella of Be Connected as a tutoring programme for computers/ipads/mobile phones etc etc. This is a free service provided by volunteers and currently runs 3 mornings from 9.00am to 12 noon. They currently do not have any tutors, and I wondered if there are any members who would have a few hours available and more computer literate than I am who would be available to help out. Any volunteer would have to be a member of the Community Centre committee, and have a police check as they are handling people’s information etc. If you or you know anyone who would be in a position to volunteer, could you get in touch with me please? Regards, Linda Harris President 41 939256 0427 006831

01.01.2022 FRASER COAST REGIONAL COUNCIL MEDIA RELEASE 6 July 2020... ‘Virtual’ summit to help Fraser Coast businesses recover A Gruen Transfer TV personality and a Queensland Government Minister will be among the guest speakers at a free Fraser Coast Virtual Business Summit being held this month to help local businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Deputy Mayor Darren Everard said the Virtual Business Summit was being held online from 9am to 10.30am on Thursday 23 July and would feature a range of interesting guest speakers. The economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have spread across the world, and we certainly haven’t been immune on the Fraser Coast, he said. Local businesses have been responding to the challenges thrown their way though, and the virtual summit is designed to look at the positives and consider how we can be resilient and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Guest speakers will include marketing guru and Gruen Transfer TV personality Russel Howcroft, Minister for State Development, Tourism and Innovation Kate Jones, Small Business Commissioner Maree Adshead, Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Leanne Coddington, and KPMG Director James Matthews. Topics to be discussed include the impact of COVID-19 on the Queensland economy, support for small businesses, how the tourism and events sector is moving forward from COVID-19 and the importance of business branding and promotion during these challenging times. Cr Everard said tickets to the Virtual Business Summit were free, but registration was essential via https://kapara.rdbk.com.au/landers/d7b0bc.html with businesses to be provided a web link so they could take part in the event. These are difficult times for many businesses but we can get through it if we work together, learn from each other and make the most of the support available, he said. Cr Everard said Council had formed an Economic Recovery Group that was meeting regularly with the three local Chambers of Commerce, the Fraser Coast Property Industry Association, the Urban Development Institute of Australia, and Federal and State Government agencies. Council is determined to do what we can to help to assist businesses to grow our local economy, keep people employed and create new jobs, he said. More information about Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council support for businesses is available at https://www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/coronavirus-support-for-
