25.01.2022 My partner and I moved house in July, and the new backyard was pretty sad and garden beds full of hectic weeds. We weeded, put loads of compost and manure into the soil and planted. Stoked with how it’s coming along!

25.01.2022 Im very lucky to have a job that doesnt involve close contact with people, so will keep on working but very carefully (in my personal life I'm socially distancing.) When I come to blitz your yard, Ill be extremely switched on with hand sanitising/washing, keeping distance, touching things minimally etc. I am privileged in being young & healthy, but am doing my bit to flatten the curve for the sake of those who arent. I would also like to offer a discount to anyone who's income is currently, or going to be, impacted. Take care buddies

24.01.2022 Put in loads of seeds today in a fav Marrickville garden for the apocalypse. Weeding, digging in compost, some nice soil then weeds sprinkled, raked in & watered. Cant wait to see these puppies grow (Also planted Dichondra seeds as native ground cover for path - their idea. Will look awesome!)

24.01.2022 Me & Disco are fully booked until Xmas. Now taking bookings for mid January onwards.

24.01.2022 An oldie but a goodie. Always love a good blitz at this clients place in Earlwood. These plants are now much larger thanks to the regular feeding of soil with compost, manure, mulch & seasol.

24.01.2022 Some planting near clients pool in Earlwood. Looks a bit nicer - can’t wait til they’re all grown up!

23.01.2022 Removing this extremely dense lantana in St Peters was a scratchy job (note to self: wear long sleeves next time.) There is exciting plans for this front garden but for the moment, just this is a huge improvement.

23.01.2022 Winter is the dream time for a tidy up as we can actually get ontop of things - and prepare for spring & summer. If we give our soil tlc now, it makes spring flowering better, and more resilient plants for summer. Contact me (& Disco) for affordable, professional yard maintenance in Sydney's inner west & beyond.

22.01.2022 $1275 for Sisters Inside Raffle drawn! Congrats Liz Winterbottom! Ill leave the fundraising page up til tomorrow so people can make last minute donations (or you can donate direct to them via their website.) Thanks to all that donated. ... Us white folks need to keep listening, protesting, opening our wallets- doing all we can to change our racist system. Please look into other great organisations you can support if you have the means to do so (theres a good list on climatefives instagram.)

22.01.2022 Disco is doing some pretty hectic side eye to her friend Bunk in Dulwich Hill. Its the ideal day for some hedging now everythings not getting scorched!

22.01.2022 My awesome clients in Bardwell Park inject some life into the burbs with their sculptures. This yard is a jerk to mow but the quirkiness & their puppy Bruno makes it all worth it! Check out more of Dillon MacEwans work on his insta: @mekazoic

21.01.2022 I dont want to use whats happening to spruce myself - but now is the best time to have a veggie garden! If we have slightly more difficult access to fresh fruit and veg for a while, being able to grab nutrient dense goodies from your backyard is brilliant. Its not as hard as some people think - especially if you go for the simplest things such as herbs and greens.

21.01.2022 The difference mulch makes! Where Ive mulched thickly, hardly any weeds have reared their heads. Right next to it was bare soil, where so many farmers friends have come up. It truly makes the world of difference in not only weed suppression but also moisture retention, regulating soil temperature, improving soil etc etc.

21.01.2022 These two doofuses copying each other at a lovely clients in Hurlstone Park.

20.01.2022 This clients front yard was fairly baron when she moved in. Despite it being a rental she thought it was worth spending a little cashola to make it beautiful, so spent a bit over $100 on plants and some nice soil and mulch. We have several kinds of grevilleas, lavender, gazanias etc - this is them 3.5 years on, all going gangbusters.

20.01.2022 Underplanting some trees with the stunning kangaroo paw (Disco and clients new pup Solo decided to help.) Plus bee enjoying the marigold at home - I love interspersing flowers in amongst veggies etc so ensure bees have constant snacks!

20.01.2022 Hope you all had a lovely xmas (or that you just got through it okay, if its not your thing!) and are having a nice break/summer). Me and Disco taking bookings for last week of Jan onwards, so book in to avoid waiting.

20.01.2022 Made some lovely clients in Lewishams vertical planter back in business again. Succulents are perfect for scorching hot spots. All cuttings from trendy succys on their property, so free aside from some nice quality soil mix.

19.01.2022 This pigface and blue chalk stick succulent putting on quite a show at a job in Lewisham. While I’d like to credit myself for it, hardly anything needs to be done to these cuties for them to thrive. I am now taking bookings for January onwards, so get in early to secure me & Disco!

19.01.2022 Cheeky before and after from Earlwood the other day. Just a reminder that I am being exceptionally careful in both my work and personal life. When I'm working, I'll be sanitising anything non-garden that I touch, not entering your home & keeping at least a few meters distance between myself &anyone in your household. I am also offering pensioners rates to anyone who's income is or is going to be impacted.

19.01.2022 The perfect cocktail!

19.01.2022 Did you know macadamia trees are native - and easy to grow? My long-standing clients/now friends in Marrickville have this beauty as the centrepiece of their great property. They have recycled industrial materials as pots, edging and firepits. So cool.

19.01.2022 WIN A $250 GARDEN BLITZ FOR $10! I am raffling off a professional backyard blitz, with all funds going to Sisters Inside Inc (an organisation that advocates for the rights of Indigenous women in the criminal justice system.) Drawn next Wednesday. Enter as many times as you like, enter for yourself or others, etc. Idea stolen from Lauren Winzar of Hunter And Fox Tattoo. Time for us white folks to put our money where our mouth is (if you haven't already.) Aboriginal deaths in custody now stands at at least 437 (up from 432 just in the last week). No-one has ever been prosecuted for this.

18.01.2022 Winter is an excellent time to get ontop of your garden! As things arent growing much, you can do all the blitzing you want and enjoy it for way longer before more TLC is required. Also the dream time to get your soil healthy and prepared for when things warm up.

18.01.2022 Underplanting some trees with the stunning kangaroo paw (Disco and clients new pup Solo decided to ‘help’.) Plus bee enjoying the marigold at home - I love interspersing flowers in amongst veggies etc so ensure bees have constant snacks!

18.01.2022 The more diversity on your soil, the better! For an easy mulch mix, Ive mixed some sugar cane and eucy mulch together - the wood in the eucy will make it last longer, but the sugar cane will break it down a bit faster so theyll balance each other out. Variety of materials generally means different nutrients. You could also add compost, manure, leaves, grass clippings or whatever you want to your mulch mix.

17.01.2022 Some planting near clients pool in Earlwood. Looks a bit nicer - cant wait til theyre all grown up!

17.01.2022 Love blitzing my own garden. This is just one section of our edible beds. Planted loads of veggie seeds, cant wait to start harvesting in a few months Perfect time to get some in the ground!

17.01.2022 Disco making herself right at home at the lovely Kerrys in Tempe. Thanks Kerry for the photo of the cheeky helper. I am using this opportunity of wetter soil after rains to mulch mulch mulch! Once the ground is moist, mulch helps trap it. The difference it makes to soil is enormous - bare dirt just bakes in the sun.

17.01.2022 If youve been a bit of a slacktivist like me, donating money is a great way to support things. Check out the auction below to donate WHILE getting something awesome. You can even bid on a few hour blitz from me. https://airauctioneer.com/inner-west-bushfire-relief

17.01.2022 Mask protection for face against smoke: (semi) check! Mulch protection for soil against heat and drought: check!

17.01.2022 Blueberry flowers! Woohoo for spring. To grow blueberries, remember they need acidic soil. A good method is using rose/gardenia/azalea potting mix, then munching well with pine bark. Moving forward you can mulch regularly and dig bark into surrounding soil to help acidity. & as always, regular organic liquid feeds help give things a boost.

16.01.2022 Client in Dulwich wanted some tropical plants to compliment her yard. Heres one of the beds I did today. When adding new plants to your garden, give them nice soil, a good drink of seasol to help with transplant shock, a deep water and mulch (then daily water for a week.)

15.01.2022 Professional , sustainable gardening in the inner west & beyond. No dodgy hack jobs- I know whats a weed and what isnt, how to look after your plants and soil & make the place look great. Me & Disco (below doing dodgy side eye) go the extra mile for your yard!

15.01.2022 Hope everyone had a nice break & got some sort of reset, despite these weird times. Me & Disco are enjoying working in this slightly cooler summer!

14.01.2022 Winter is an excellent time to get ontop of your garden! As things aren’t growing much, you can do all the blitzing you want and enjoy it for way longer before more TLC is required. Also the dream time to get your soil healthy and prepared for when things warm up.

14.01.2022 Can’t get much hardier than pigface. The native variety is edible and has these chunky flowers for bees to munch on.

13.01.2022 Just got sent this screenshot from a resident of the beautiful Globe Mills apartment block, where I garden at monthly. Shucks!

10.01.2022 New Australian tradie fashion. Just giving my own garden a drink to survive the heat today, as I cant go to work with air quality 11 times hazardous levels. My mask helps but wearing it during the high 30s isnt feasible. I am feeling overwhelmed and terrified of what is happening. We cant accept this. This isnt normal. We are in a climate emergency and the government is sitting on their hands, sending useless thoughts and prayers instead of acknowledging whats happening & taking meaningful action.

10.01.2022 Such a pleasure watching the bees & birds feast on this stunning flowering gum at my clients in Marrickville. Just a note, I am booked flat before Xmas and beyond for a while, but there is some wiggle room in January onwards. Get in touch and I’ll see what I can do!

09.01.2022 Raffle alert! I'm offering 2 hours of gardening (value $120), with all donations going towards Aboriginal Legal Service, who have been supporting Indigenous folks and communities since 1970. The 26th of January marks the beginning of the ongoing attempted genocide of Indigenous people. As I can't attend Invasion Day rally, I would like to offer this as a way to stand with mob and 'pay the rent.' 1 'ticket' for my offer is $10, & you can buy as many as you like - for yourself ...or whoever you'd like, as long are they're within or close to Sydney's inner west. This will end on 27th January.

09.01.2022 Cant get much hardier than pigface. The native variety is edible and has these chunky flowers for bees to munch on.

08.01.2022 My awesome clients in Bardwell Park inject some life into the ‘burbs with their sculptures. This yard is a jerk to mow but the quirkiness & their puppy Bruno makes it all worth it! Check out more of Dillon MacEwans work on his insta: @mekazoic

08.01.2022 I’m sorry to say, me & Disco are having to call it for now! Books are full for foreseeable future. I’ll let peeps know when that changes. Only new jobs I’m able to potentially consider at this stage is regular work (monthly or more), so give me a yell if this is what you’re after.

08.01.2022 So proud of my clients kids Balbay & Enid & their mate Guy for putting together this beautiful community garden in Marrickville South. Complete with worm farm & the cutest signs youve ever seen Guerrilla gardening: start em young!

08.01.2022 WHO IS THIS DOG OBSESSED GARDENER? Thought I should do a little garden origin story. I'm a 33 year old, originally from Newcastle, but moved to Sydney 6 years ago. I learnt to garden from my Grandpa who has the greenest thumb I've ever known. I became invested in plants in my earlyish 20s after some chaotic years, & scored a job doing the garden for a cafe I had started working at. I became especially passionate about edibles, so I went & got my Permaculture Design Certifi...cate at "The Panya Project" in Thailand. Me & some friends were also running a radical soup kitchen attached to a community garden, where we would use produce from the garden, run edible planting workshops, do permablitzes, guerilla gardening etc. Eventually I got a job gardening at an aged care home, where I worked alongside a horticulturalist and my knowledge grew exponentially, so I started seeing my own clients - and so this biz begun! I also have my Youth Work certificate from Tafe & Community Services degree from uni, so I am passionate about working with less advantaged people and groups - sharing skills & getting people excited about getting their hands in the dirt. As someone with an anxiety disorder, gardening has been amazing for my mental health. I feel very privileged to be able to do job that helps keep my head calm, & that I love. & that's my novel! Part 2 coming soon of why I'm excited about using organic, more sustainable methods

05.01.2022 More photos of Disco in the garden - but not for my biz! For a vital campaign. Follow & support Stop Adani.

05.01.2022 A pleasure turning this baron front yard in Marrickville into a very cute situation! Designed & planted by yours truly, we got blueberry hedges, three veggies garden, and grasses and ground cover herbs throughout.

04.01.2022 Happy new year to my awesome clients. I feel so privileged to work in a job that I love and have such a wonderful client base. Thanks for supporting a local queerbo who mostly just posts photos of her dog X

04.01.2022 Prep your garden for dry weather with awesome soil and mulch. Most of my clients are the moment are getting: - a layer of compost/manure then thick mulch- watering well before, during and after laying things (abiding by water restriction times of course.) - at the very least, just mulching makes a world of different (7-10cm thick ideal.) -giving things a drink of seasol (1-2 capfuls per 9L then watering in.) this builds plant/soil health so they are more resilient.... & of course, when choosing plants, look for things that arent water intensive. The established native section of my garden (not pictured) hasnt been watered once and is thriving!

03.01.2022 You might remember a few months back I posted this cute vertical planter when I first threw the succulents in (which I grabbed from other spots in their yard). Originally this planter was bare as things they planted carked it from the heat (sunny spot + against wall + black pots = scalding.) Look how happy it is!

01.01.2022 $1275 for Sisters Inside Raffle drawn! Congrats Liz Winterbottom! 01.01.2022 Chuffed to have spent a few days sorting this garden out for sale. If anyone got a cool mill or two, here you go! ;)
