24.01.2022 Dalai Lama said! What is important is not so much how long you live as whether you live a meaningful life. This doesnt mean accumulating money and fame, but being of service to your fellow human beings. It means helping others if you can, but even if you cant do that, at least not harming them.

20.01.2022 Corona virus prevention tips SOME TIPS TO HELP AVOID VIRUS very good Off Facebook but seems helpful. But WHO advice in link below The Chinese now understand the behavior of the COVID-19 virus thanks to autopsies that they have carried out. This virus is characterized by obstructing respiratory pathways with thick mucus that solidifies and blocks the airways and lungs. They have discovered that in order to be able to apply a medicine, you have to open and unblock these airway...s so that the treatment can be used to take effect, however all of this takes a number of days. Their recommendations for what you can do to safeguard yourself are: 1. Drink lots of hot liquids; coffee, soups, teas, warm water; in addition, take a sip of warm water every 20 minutes because this keeps your mouth moist and washes any of the virus that has entered your mouth into your stomach where gastric juices will neutralize it before it can get to the lungs 2. Gargle with an antiseptic in warm water like vinegar, or salt, or lemon every day if possible 3. The virus attaches itself to hair and clothes; any detergent or soap kills it but you must take a bath or a shower when you get in from the street; avoid sitting down anywhere and go straight to the bathroom or shower. If you cannot wash your clothes daily, hang them in direct sunlight which also neutralizes the virus. 4. Wash metallic surfaces very carefully, because the virus can remain viable on these for up to nine days. Take note and be vigilant about touching hand rails and door handles etc. (I guess within your own house as well, you can make sure that you are keeping them clean by wiping them down regularly) to wash metallic surfaces carefully; 5. Dont smoke 6. Wash hands every 20 minutes using any soap that foams. Do this for 20 seconds and wash your hands thoroughly 7. Eat fruits and vegetables; try to elevate zinc levels, not just vitamin C levels. 8. Animals do not spread the virus to people; this is a person to person transmission. 9. Try to avoid getting the common flu; (I guess because it already weakens your system.) Avoid eating or drinking cold things 10. If you feel any discomfort in your throat, or a sore throat coming on, attack it immediately using the above methods. The virus enters the system this way and remains for three or four days within the throat before it passes into the lungs. Very credible advice. Pass along if you wish

19.01.2022 I often think of my mother as my first teacher of compassion. She was simple, uneducated, just a village farmer, but so kind-hearted - and her kindness was unco...nditional. It is the love with which she nurtured me that is the core of the compassion I can find in myself and feel for others. This very basic level of affection is natural to human beings. See more

19.01.2022 Coronavirus: People in New South Wales will face fines of up to $11,000 and up to six months in prison if they ignore new orders to cancel public events that en...courage 500 or more people to attend. Story: https://7news.link/2Qgpz0A Health Minister's Statement: "NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has made an Order under Section 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 to force the immediate cancellation of public events with more than 500 people. Mr Hazzard said under the planned changes, individuals who fail to comply could face up to six months in prison or a fine of up to $11,000 or both, plus additional penalties for each day the offence continues. Corporations face even harsher fines. I urge the community to do the right thing and obey the decisions and advice of the National and NSW Chief Medical Officers, Mr Hazzard said. But we will be tough if needed, to protect the wider community. Mr Hazzard said the Order ensures the new requirements of the National Cabinet are operational immediately after midnight 15 March, 2020. The NSW Government COVID-19 War Cabinet met by teleconference yesterday to endorse the Chief Health Officers advice on keeping schools open. NSW public schools will remain open but with enhanced safeguards including students not being required to attend assemblies and other measures to ensure a focus on increased physical separation. All Chief Health Officers of Australia believe that school closures should not be recommended at this stage in the pandemic. This decision will remain under constant review to ensure the best outcome for children and young people. As agreed by the National Cabinet all entrants to Australia, including returning residents and citizens, will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. NSW will continue to support the Commonwealth Government in implementing this requirement. If any individual fails to do so the NSW Chief Health Officer may issue an order to forcibly require compliance. Any enforcement required would be in consultation with NSW Police. The spread here has been slowed significantly by the Governments actions on the advice of health experts, and we will use our legislative public health powers to best safeguard the community, Mr Hazzard said. 16.01.2022 When were born, our mothers show us compassion. This is a natural response that has nothing to do with spiritual practice. Without that kindness we wouldnt su...rvive. So, our lives start with an experience of kindness and compassion. When were dying, being surrounded by gold and jewellery is of no solace at all, but having caring family and friends around us puts us at ease. This is how important compassion can be. See more

12.01.2022 His Holiness the Dalai Lamas Message for Earth Day On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, our planet is facing one of the greatest challenges to the health and... well-being of its people. And yet, in the midst of this struggle, we are reminded of the value of compassion and mutual support. The current global pandemic threatens us all, without distinctions of race, culture or gender, and our response must be as one humanity, providing for the most essential needs of all. Whether we like it or not, we have been born on this earth as part of one great family. Rich or poor, educated or uneducated, belonging to one nation or another, ultimately each of us is just a human being like everyone else. Furthermore, we all have the same right to pursue happiness and avoid suffering. When we recognize that all beings are equal in this respect, we automatically feel empathy and closeness towards others. Out of this comes a genuine sense of universal responsibility: the wish to actively help others overcome their problems. Our mother earth is teaching us a lesson in universal responsibility. This blue planet is a delightful habitat. Its life is our life; its future, our future. Indeed, the earth acts like a mother to us all; as her children, we are dependent on her. In the face of the global problems we are going through it is important that we must all work together. I came to appreciate the importance of environmental concern only after escaping from Tibet in 1959, where we always considered the environment to be pure. Whenever we saw a stream of water, for instance, there was no worry about whether it was safe to drink. Sadly, the mere availability of clean drinking water is a major problem throughout the world today. We must ensure that the sick and the valiant health-care providers throughout the world have access to the fundamental necessities of clean water and proper sanitation to prevent the uncontrolled spread of disease. Hygiene is one of the bases of effective health care. Sustainable access to properly equipped and staffed health-care facilities will help us meet the challenges of the current pandemic that ravages our planet. It will also offer one of the strongest defenses against future public health crises. I understand that these are precisely the objectives set forth in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that address challenges to global health. As we face this crisis together, it is imperative that we act in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation in order to provide for the pressing needs, particularly of our less fortunate brothers and sisters around the world. I hope and pray that in the days ahead, each of us will do all we can to create a happier and healthier world. Dalai Lama 22 April 2020

06.01.2022 I would like to wish everyone Tashi Delek. At this time when, as you all know, the coronavirus pandemic has spread throughout the world, creating an inconceiva...ble crisis, I have been staying in retreat, keeping some distance from society. But I am unable to bear the feeling, and would like to say a few words today. From the time this epidemic began to spread, it has severely impacted the daily lives and health of everyone on the entire earth. We worry anxiously about what will happen in the future. The Bhagavan Buddha said that everything composite is impermanent. No matter what situation we face in our lives, it always changes, not staying still for even an instant. We are able to deal with a great deal of change, but merely knowing that is no substitute. When sometimes there are changes in a direction that we want or when positive changes exceed our expectations, we have the hope that there will even more or greater changes. But when it is the opposite and there are incomprehensible changes for the bad, we get afraid and do not know what we should do. So when we are confronted by such great impermanence as now, we must do what we can not to panic and instead look inside ourselves. For example, many things we ordinarily take for granted are actually incredibly precious. We should relax and think about our normal good health and what a great happiness it is to have people who are dear to us. Then we can use this crisis to improve ourselves and learn something new. I think that trying to do this will be very beneficial. This present pandemic does not discriminate between male and female, between races and nationalities, between those with wealth and power and those without. Even developed countries such as America, Spain, Italy, and the UK face great difficulties. Many developing and poor countries will face even greater hardships. Even if a country has only one coronavirus patient, the danger to the entire world is such that it is crucially important all of us on the earth must work together to face and overcome this crisis. Every day, the number of the sick increases. When we see the number of deaths increasing past the hundreds and thousands, we can be left numb. In actuality, each one of them is a living, breathing person. In particular, doctors and medical professionals are caring for the sick and making great sacrifices to fight this battle. It is very important that we all express our appreciation, support, and praise for them. Thus to show how we Buddhists support everyone during this current epidemic, starting from next Saturday, we have an hour-long prayer session on the internet every day for a week. We can all pray together for world peace and for the epidemic to be quelled. The time will be announced later. So I would like to ask everyone to pray together for everyone in the world to be happy and for this pandemic to quickly pass.

03.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA 30 March 2020 My dear brothers and sisters,... I am writing these words in response to repeated requests from many people around the world. Today, we are passing through an exceptionally difficult time due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to this, further problems confront humanity such as extreme climate change. I would like to take this opportunity to express my admiration and gratitude to governments across the world, including the Government of India, for the steps they are taking to meet these challenges. Ancient Indian tradition describes the creation, abiding and destruction of worlds over time. Among the causes of such destruction are armed conflict and disease, which seems to accord with what we are experiencing today. However, despite the enormous challenges we face, living beings, including humans, have shown a remarkable ability to survive. No matter how difficult the situation may be, we should employ science and human ingenuity with determination and courage to overcome the problems that confront us. Faced with threats to our health and well-being, it is natural to feel anxiety and fear. Nevertheless, I take great solace in the following wise advice to examine the problems before us: If there is something to be donedo it, without any need to worry; if theres nothing to be done, worrying about it further will not help. Everyone at present is doing their best to contain the spread of the coronavirus. I applaud the concerted efforts of nations to limit the threat. In particular, I appreciate the initiative India has taken with other SAARC countries to set up an emergency fund and an electronic platform to exchange information, knowledge and expertise to tackle the spread of Covid-19. This will serve as a model for dealing with such crises in future as well. I understand that as a result of the necessary lockdowns across the world, many people are facing tremendous hardship due to a loss of livelihood. For those with no stable income life is a daily struggle for survival. I earnestly appeal to all concerned to do everything possible to care for the vulnerable members of our communities. I offer special gratitude to the medical staffdoctors, nurses and other support personnelwho are working on the frontline to save lives at great personal risk. Their service is indeed compassion in action. With heartfelt feelings of concern for my brothers and sisters around the world who are passing through these difficult times, I pray for an early end to this pandemic so that your peace and happiness may soon be restored. With my prayers, #dalialama #convid19 #love #compassion

01.01.2022 Happy 85th birthday to His Holiness the Dalai Lama! I once read an article about His Holiness in Outlook long back. And it was so truly and beautifully written.... If I try to remember the gist, it says, how could a man, who have been through so much of struggles in his life, be so peaceful, compassionate and happy. And that actually answers the quintessence virtue of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Fortunate we are that we could see, listen and practice his teachings. His Holiness has been truly recognised as a treasure of the world as his messages of peace and compassion continue to touch millions of souls through out the world. So on this joyous occasion, let us all pray for his happy, healthy and long life. And also to thank him for his remarkable contribution towards humanity. May His Holiness continue to bestow his grace and blessings upon us. And here is one of his favourite quote, If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. Long live His Holiness, Kapsu chey, Katrin chey with the deepest gratitude.
