22.01.2022 PATIENT GROUPS FOR AGES HAVE SAID THERE ARE SERIOUS INFECTIONS IN TICKS. Q Fever has been known for a while but often dismissed in ticks as being rare. This report indicates it is not rare, just not believed or properly tested for in the past. How many patients still sick have this or other maybe unknown infections that get dismissed in the no Lyme in Australia dogma and blindness by the medical profession that they miss this and other infections. How many people who are ...sick never link this back to a potential bite so do not report to hospitals. The public also needs to be aware not to dismiss tick bites as being nothing. I hope this brings this issue to light and hope this patient now makes a good recovery. Health authorities are warning about the dangers of tick bites after a woman was diagnosed with a dangerous disease normally associated with the livestock industry. Key points: A Cairns woman is diagnosed with Q fever after being bitten by a tick while camping Experts say the disease is normally spread by breathing in dust by infected animals Far north Queensland has recorded the second-highest number of people seeking treatment for tick bites in the state https://www.abc.net.au//womans-q-fever-diagnosis-/12900490

21.01.2022 THEY MAY NOT HAVE FOUND BORRELIA SENSU LATO IN AUSTRALIAN TICKS-BUT THERE ARE A LOT MORE PATHOGENS THEY DO FIND THAT CAN CAUSE HARM. Why always the focus on "NO LYME"? What about paying attention to what is in Australian ticks. This is one of many research articles that is uncovering far more pathogens that are just as harmful to humans. Are governments paying attention? Are these some of the pathogens that are making thousands sick in Australia? "Results: Borrelia burgdorfer...i sensu lato was identified in German I. ricinus, but not in Australian I. holocyclus ticks. (The very prolific Paralysis tick) HOWEVER, bacteria of medical significance were detected in I. holocyclus ticks, including a Borrelia relapsing fever group sp., Bartonella henselae, novel Candidatus Neoehrlichia spp., Clostridium histolyticum, Rickettsia spp., and Leptospira inadai." "Here, this strategy provided the first evidence of a relapsing fever Borrelia sp. and of novel Candidatus Neoehrlichia spp. in Australia. Our results raise new questions about tick-borne pathogens in I. holocyclus ticks." https://www.academia.edu//Inhibition_of_the_endosymbiont_C

21.01.2022 ARTICLE FROM SBS ABOUT HOW DEVASTATING AUSTRALIAN TICK INFECTIONS CAN BE. But there is some promising news that the new privately funded research charity organisation PANDIS is starting to recruit patients to investigate just what pathogens from ticks these patients are suffering from. Donations always welcome so more Australians can be tested and then hopefully treated in Australia without having to venture overseas as many have had to do before. ... PANDIS will be connecting patients with a team of leading doctors and scientists who will work collaboratively to try and identify the causes and effective treatments for the illness. What we’re trying to build with PANDIS is that for each illness we have the A team, the best experts I could find in Australia and around the world. The PANDIS team have begun recruiting patients who will be assessed by a team at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney. The first branch of PANDIS will be looking at tick borne disease, followed by chronic fatigue syndrome. They will then move on to other chronic conditions." https://www.sbs.com.au//new-chronic-illness-team-offers-ho

20.01.2022 SOME BREAST CANCER TISSUE FOUND TO CONTAIN BORRELIA LYME BACTERIA. Shared from PANDIS.org I’d heard about people who suffered from Lyme disease and then received a breast cancer diagnosis soon after, said Dr. Sapi, coordinator of the University’s graduate program in cellular and molecular biology. I wondered if the Borrelia bacteria were in breast cancer tissue. My research group examined slides with several kinds of breast cancer, as well as healthy tissues. The normal br...east tissues were completely negative for the bacteria, and we have found evidence that they are present in breast cancer tissues. Furthermore, when we introduced Borrelia to cancer cells, we found they start to invade very quickly. ‘Presenting at the conference was a great experience’ Although the etiology of breast cancer is still unknown, it is believed to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors one of which, Dr. Sapi believes, may be bacterial infection. She and her students, who have been an integral part of her research, are focusing on Borrelia. When examining more than 400 invasive breast cancer tissues, they found that a significant number of samples were positive for Borrelia, suggesting that the bacteria may play a role in breast cancer development and metastasis.

19.01.2022 COULD IT BE THAT VIRUSES ARE ALSO MAKING AUSTRALIANS SICK FROM TICK BITES? This 2019 research conducted on sampling ticks collected from the east coast of NSW found a large array of viruses in the ticks collected. What is notable is that they say one viral species is similar to Colorada tick virus which does harm humans. The next step is to determine how many more of these viruses would be harmful to humans. See in comments below about the Colorado Tick Virus . What is also c...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Q FEVER AND LACK OF UNDERSTANDING IN THE AUSTRALIAN BUSH BY DOCTORS It seems that even Q Fever is grossly ignored by many medical doctors, the same as other tick-borne diseases. Q Fever can be spread by ticks but it is predominately spread via the air in cattle yards and on cattle stations. It has been known for years but doctors even working in these cattle country areas still are not on top of their education about Q Fever, leaving many people undiagnosed for years The othe...r situation is, is there is an Australian made vaccine for people but many get missed being vaccinated. "Q Fever was not being well diagnosed and many GPs working in the bush weren't aware of it, she said. The high turnover of doctors in rural areas was probably contributing to the problem because they weren't staying in the regions long enough to recognise the symptoms. She said a protocol for doctors should be in place and followed when a person presented with Q Fever-like symptoms including asking whether the patient had been around livestock which spread the disease to humans. Another problem was that children under 15 weren't meant to be vaccinated while the vaccination process itself wasn't simple and required screening. Her husband has been vaccinated while their daughter, Emma, now 16, is going to be vaccinated. "Everybody should be vaccinated if you are working with animals," she said. https://www.farmonline.com.au//alarm-about-danger-of-q-f/

15.01.2022 GREAT IDEA TO HELP PREVENT TICKS CRAWLING UP YOUR PANT LEG-GOOD OLE DUCT DUCT Another great idea is to wear those on trend tight sports clothing for long legged pants and tight fitting sports undershirts. These are often really tight to the skin and so help prevent ticks getting and crawling under your clothes and attaching in the groin and under the arms which are very common places for ticks to hide and feed. A primary focus of tick bite prevention is creating a barrier that will prevent the tick from accessing bare skin. Wrapping a layer of sticky tape around your ankles will not completely prevent tick bites, but any added barrier can help.

14.01.2022 COULD TICKS ACTUALLY HELP HUMANS? "Evasins offer promising pathway for anti-inflammatory medicine Using the properties of naturally occurring proteins offers huge potential for new medicines. Charlotte Franck in Professor Richard Payne's lab has for the first time made the anti-inflammatory evasin proteins found in tick saliva." https://www.sydney.edu.au//scientists-synthesise-evasin-ti

14.01.2022 LATEST PETER IRWIN TICK MICROBIOME STUDY JUNE 2021 Very illuminating findings indicating issues with past testing and the need for more accurate even research testing. From this research new unique novel pathogens have been found mostly in the Rickettsia species. It is indicated that NO borrelia in the Lyme species were found. BUT IMO these Rickettsia species in normal commercial labs might probably get missed especially not using advanced PCR testing. ...Continue reading

13.01.2022 BELLA HADID EXPLAINS THE REALITY OF HER INVISIBLE CHRONIC LYME TICK ILLNESS. So many times we see people both celebrities and otherwise out and about looking "normal". No one understands what goes on behind the scenes of these brave and brave faced people continuing to do their best with chronic conditions that are often maligned by healthy people and many practitioners as well. Now we are seeing this with post COVID long haulers and many people are not "believing" them and chastising them for being lazy or being scared of them. So again they are another group being ostracised. Tragic to see human nature behaving this way and with a health system saying to these people "just exercise you will get over it" to this group of patients as well.

12.01.2022 TICK BORNE INFECTIONS ARE ON THE RISE. IS MUCH DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE? Tick-borne diseases are rising as the climate is changing, and we do not have a comprehensive protection strategy: "It is clear that control of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases will require a paradigm shift emphasizing measures to reduce tick and host populations and a substantial research and development effort...At present, clinical assessment and treatment remain the most critical tools in reducing the burden of tick-borne diseases. https://www.infectiousdiseaseadvisor.com//tick-borne-illn/

12.01.2022 NEWS HEADLINE ABOUT TICK PARALYSIS FOR OUR PETS It is tick season from September to April/May 2020, meaning we are entering a peak of tick and bite activity. Though ticks are prevalent and bite all year round. BUT HUMANS ARE AFFECTED AS WELL. Many of these reports, as sad as they are about losing our pet to the many tick-borne diseases, rarely if any do they report that ticks are carried into the home and that people can get bitten and also become sick and in rarer cases di...e too. No education about the fact that people can be bitten and to even check themselves as well after a walk with the dog. Or that a cat has been outside as cats can carry ticks into the house and get sick too to check people too if that happens. Maybe these reporters should be letting people know people can get infections like Rickettsia and also they can get tick paralysis the same as pets as well as anaphylaxis or alpha-gal to name a few known and accepted pathogens, let alone all the unknown. Our animals get far better treatment. Plus people better tick education about ticks than human tick education for infections. There is more research from pet and vet companies and universities about pets and ticks. More money goes to animal charities for tick-borne illness than human charities. I wonder why that is?

10.01.2022 ATYPICAL FINDINGS IN TICK DISEASES Whether it is overseas Lyme or a potential Australian Borrelia or Rickettsia from ticks and fleas (which up to 25% of people with MECFS may have in Australia) or the newer emerging tick infections including viruses, it becomes very difficult to diagnose, especially with inadequate pathology backing up a doctors clinical assessment.

08.01.2022 SUMMER IS NOT JUST TICK AND MOSQUITO SEASON. ITS SNAKE SEASON Here’s some tips to help save your life. If playing sport travelling take with you a tick kit as well as a snake first aid kit RFDS updated guidelines for treating snake bites... Do NOT wash the area of the bite or try to suck out the venom. It is extremely important to retain traces of venom for use with venom identification kits. Do NOT incise or cut the bite, or apply a high tourniquet. Cutting or incising the bite won't help. High tourniquets are ineffective and can be fatal if released. Do bandage firmly, splint and immobilise to stop the spread of venom. All the major medical associations recommend slowing the spread of venom by placing a folded pad over the bite area and then applying a firm bandage. It should not stop blood flow to the limb or congest the veins. Only remove the bandage in a medical facility, as the release of pressure will cause a rapid flow of venom through the bloodstream. Do NOT allow the victim to walk or move their limbs. Use a splint or sling to minimise all limb movement. Put the patient on a stretcher or bring transportation to the patient. Do seek medical help immediately as the venom can cause severe damage to health and even death within a few hours. https://amp.abc.net.au/article/13110952

08.01.2022 FROM THE CDC IN JANUARY 2020 UNTREATED BORRELIA LYME CAN CROSS THE PLACENTA TO A FETUS IN PREGNANCY For years this was denied and not thought possible. There is still no proof of blood transfusion, but maybe because not enough research has been done to fully prove that is possible. Sexual transmission has been shown but again not widely promoted as a need for care. If borrelia is a cousinspirochete to syphilis you would think it were likely. ... Untreated Lyme disease during pregnancy can lead to infection of the placenta. Spread from mother to fetus is possible but rare. Fortunately, with appropriate antibiotic treatment, there is no increased risk of adverse birth outcomes.Jan 27, 2020 https://www.cdc.gov//fa/Pregnancy-and-Lyme-Disease-508.pdf

06.01.2022 ONE OF PANDIS RESEARCH IS LOOKING INTO CYANOBACTERIA This sad news shows it can kill elephants so could also have the potential to kill and cause harm to humans. It’s a growing concern with climate change. An ongoing project of PANDIS researcher Gilles Guillemin in Australia are the spiked cases of MND in Griffith NSW and the possible link to Cyanobacteria in local waters. Cyanobacteria are toxic bacteria which can occur naturally in standing water and sometimes grow into la...rge blooms known as blue-green algae. Scientists warn that climate change may be making these incidents - known as toxic blooms - more likely, because they favour warm water.

06.01.2022 ONE DAY WE WILL REVEAL PLENTY MORE DISEASES IN TICKS IN AUSTRALIA AND WORLDWIDE-17 INFECTIONS CAN BE SPREAD IN A SINGLE USA TICK. We are denying this here as the research has not been done so how do we know? If it's possible overseas it could be possible here and have different and unique species in Australia. Private funding is needed for PANDIS research who hope to find exactly what pathogens, which then will show proof so patients can finally get the treatment needed. www.pandis.org https://www.theweathernetwork.com//6174145098/most_popular

05.01.2022 PROF GILLES GUILLEMIN AWARDED AM AUSTRALIA. Much deserved recognition for top PANDIS research scientist. So excited that tick borne disease private research is starting with Pandis with Gilles leading the research team. Proud that Ticna is also collaborating from a patient and public education perspective. Congratulations Gilles Guillemin

05.01.2022 IN AUSTRALIA IT IS PEAK TIME FOR TICKS. DID YOU KNOW SYMPTOMS OF COVID ARE SIMILAR TO TICK-BORNE DISEASES? This article talks about Overseas Lyme but we have Lyme-like infections, Rickettsia and Q Fever in ticks here giving similar symptoms. It triggers cytokines, the inflammatory process, and by triggering the whole natural immune system, it will mimic some other infections that affect the immune system, Cameron said. When the immune system is working hard to clear the inf...ection, it may cause symptoms very similar to COVID-19. https://www.radio.com//how-to-tell-difference-between-coro

05.01.2022 DEADLY HEMORRHAGIC VIRUS FROM TICKS EMERGE IN CHINA As we have indicated before ticks carry far more and often deadlier pathogens in them than just Lyme. A deadly virus has re-emerged in China, infecting more than 60 people and killing seven. The highly pathogenic, tick-borne novel bunyavirus can lead to thrombocytopenia syndrome.... It causes a viral haemorrhagic fever and has re-emerged in rural areas of China. https://www.news.com.au///b833406e5b2b391aac62dc52db554e64

04.01.2022 DR STEVEN PHILLIPS AND DANA PARISH BOOK CHRONIC NOW IN AUSTRALIA I just bought mine on kindle for just under $20. I Will be reading very soon. Here is an article in New York Times about it. It’s more than a Lyme book. Like Dr Horowitz they are indicating it is Lyme+. So for those who may have succumbed to a chronic tick or other vector borne illness or an autoimmune condition this is a book to get. ... Product Description Autoimmune disease and chronic illness is a global pandemic. What is fueling it? In this timely book, Steven Phillips, MD, and his former patient, Sony singer-songwriter Dana Parish, reveal striking evidence that a broad range of common infections, from COVID-19 to Lyme and many others, cause a variety of autoimmune, psychiatric, and chronic conditions. Chronic explores the science behind what makes them difficult to diagnose and treat, debunks widely held beliefs by doctors and patients alike, and provides solutions that empower sufferers to reclaim their lives. Dr. Phillips was already an internationally renowned physician specializing in complex, chronic diseases when he became a patient himself. After nearly dying from his own mystery illness, he experienced firsthand the medical community’s ignorance about the pathogens that underlie a deep spectrum of serious conditionsfrom fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus, to depression, anxiety, OCD and neurodegenerative disorders. Parish, too, watched her health spiral after twelve top doctors missed an underlying infection that caused heart failure and other sudden debilitating physical and psychiatric symptoms. Now, they’ve come together with a mission: to change the current model of simply treating symptomsoften with dangerous, lifelong drugsand shift the focus to finding and curing root causes of chronic diseases that affect millions around the world. Review "This book shines an alarming light on emerging infections that cause chronic illnesses. Brimming with bulletproof science, Chronic is an insightful clarion call for more attention to this plague of the 21st century." --Sanjay Gupta, MD "History will reflect back upon this book as a revelation for millions living with chronic illness. It's a fascinating, superbly researched dive into the mysteries of autoimmune diseases and provides critical insights to patients and clinicians. Chronic is bold, iconoclastic, and addresses one of the most important and challenging problems facing modern medicine with compassion, love, and hope." --Ying Zhang, MD, PhD, Professor of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, Johns Hopkins University "This trailblazing book should serve to galvanize efforts to solve the autoimmune crisis in the same way And the Band Played On did for HIV." https://www.nytimes.com//opin/long-covid-lyme-disease.html

04.01.2022 STARTING THE 1ST SEPTEMBER IT IS SPRING-WHICH IS THE START OF INCREASED TICK ACTIVITY-SO WILL PEOPLE GET CONFUSED BY POSSIBLE COVID AND TICK ILLNESS SYMPTOMS IN AUSTRALIA? Again being from overseas they talk Lyme but this would also be similar for other tick infections such as Australian Rickettsia from ticks and flas as some symptoms can overlap with COVID symptoms. Fatigue and flu-like symptoms are common to both. "Both Lyme and coronavirus often start with non-specific flu...-like symptoms with fever, headache, and general achiness and fatigue. Lyme has protean presentations, ranging from the typical skin rash, to arthritis, and heart or neurologic involvement. Both infections are also notable for having long-haulers, patients with inexplicably prolonged and very debilitating symptoms, and for patients complaining of brain fog and marked fatigue. This is been more quickly recognized and accepted following Covid-19. Perhaps this is because the whole infection is peculiar and we are more open to learning about it; perhaps it is because Covid-19 seems to strike men more than women, whose symptoms are often taken less seriously. Diagnostics One of the major problems with coronavirus is our difficulty diagnosing it. The antigen tests have been unreliable with false negatives in up to 30% of tests (saying that someone is not infected when they are) and lesser inaccuracies (< 5% for false positives). With coronavirus, scientists have only been working on diagnostics for ~6 months. Researchers just announced what appears to be a major breakthrough with a more accurate and rapid test using saliva, SalivaDirect. Yet with Lyme, despite years of study, diagnostic tests are likely only ~50% accurate in diagnosing the disease."

03.01.2022 TICKS ARE NOT THE ONLY VECTORS IN AUSTRALIA CARRYING INFECTIONS THAT CAN BE DEBILITATING Ross River Virus infections are on the rise. So too Dengue fever in Australia.

03.01.2022 WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS ON NEW TICK DISEASE SPREADING FAST Deadly dog disease mysteriously appears in Australia If this disease can spread fast and be carried by ticks and affect dogs rapidly, what’s to say something similar can happen to humans? Just look and compare that to Covid, another zoonotic infection rapidly spreading and mutating around the world. The difference is only that ticks and other biting vectors are the infection carriers and spreaders.
