14.01.2022 Meet Brandy, a Russian Terrier, who took me over 3 and an half hours with the help of Noelene Burk, to fully shave. This post is to remind owners that maintenance of coat is highly important. It is the time of year when matted and pelted dogs start coming to get groomed. Pelted and matting in dogs is incredibly painful for your four legged friend and takes us groomers several hours groom them. Pelting means that the matted hair is so tightly matted to the skin, it creates sk...in irritations and can result in several sores because of the lack of oxygen to the skin. Unfortunately, pelting and matted dogs are becoming more common due to the weather warming up. This cases are incredibly frustrating and sad for me as I try my hardest to ensure both dogs and owners are happy. Many people dislike the idea of a full shave off, but unfortunately this pelted pups need to be shaved, shaving not only ensures that the coat is removed completely (with many objects still in the fur) but it also allows the skin time to heal and become healthy.
