05.01.2022 Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps Estimated to be the oldest man-made structures on Earth Brewarrina Aboriginal Fish Traps About 90 kms east of Bourke NSW there ...has been an Aboriginal presence in the town that is known today as Brewarrina for over 40,000 years, extraordinarily there remains evidence of this on the Barwon River in the form of ancient stone fish traps. the oldest man made structures that exists on Earth, these stone fish traps are reportedly evidence of engineering skill, knowledge of river hydrology & fish biology, ask 10 different people what they think is the oldest surviving manmade structure on earth and chances are you will get 10 different answers. The pyramids of Egypt or Central America? Not even close. Stonehenge? A relative newcomer. The Neolithic farmhouses of the Orkney Islands, or the megalithic tombs of France? At 7,000 years of age, the oldest of these barely registers alongside the granddaddy of them allthe Ngunnhu fish traps of Brewarrina. http://nationalunitygovernment.org//ancient-site-australia http://www.environment.gov.au/heritage//national/brewarrina https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//viewattractiondetail.a See more
