This is one of the biggest misconceptions out there. Where as in fact there are a lot of benefits of adding strength training to your workouts. The female body does not produce testosterone in the amounts that a male does, so therefore females are less likely to "Bulk Up". Strength training will actually help you to add lean muscle and ...'tone up'. It also helps you boost your metabolism more than just walking on a treadmill or working out on a bike. Lifting lower weight for more repetitions is what I would recommend. If for whatever reason a female believes they are getting to big through strength training they are a lot of ways that one can adjust the program. Example: you can reduce the volume / or intensity of the weights lifted. Reassuring the client every 4-6 weeks through girth measurements and body fat percentages is a great way to keep tract and monitor their progress/ benefits of weight training.
