25.01.2022 Tiff Firth Photography Today is the last day of trains running on the rails (during daylight. The very last run is during the night tonight). This was taken from the Coomunga Railway Crossing looking down the line towards Port Lincoln. Ive wanted to get this shot for years and I made the special effort of getting there for it today as its the very last chance of ever getting it again. ... I had a massive zoom lens on and was well clear of the tracks by the time the train made it to the highway crossing so please dont bang on about safety. I was super aware of my surrondings. 30.5.2019 ...back story... A decision by Viterra mid 2019 to cease movement of grain via rail to Port Lincoln for the shipping to export markets has had huge ramifications. Genesee Wyoming hold the lease of the rail lines on the lower and mid Eyre Peninsula, and due to Viterra's decision have lost their only business contract for the line. This has resulted in trains ceasing all together with the last one to run on either the 30 or 31st of May 2019. Viterra in their 'wisdom' will be contracting the movement of all grain to Port Lincoln by road, which is hugely concerning for all vehicle users of the roads and townships en route. Cummins boasts of where the rail runs through the middle of town, and also where the rail splits into 2 lines to run up the Eyre Peninsula. Cummins will see a huge increase in truck, road train and triples traffic through their already busy thoroughfare. Increased grain movement via road will come from the many silos up the lines and will all travel through the middle of town. Particularity concerning is the busy intersection of Bruce Terrace and McFarlane St, where it is narrow and very congested with businesses, parking and foot traffic. Let alone vehicles before and after school using that tight intersection. The main intersection of Flinders and Todd Highway has seen truck rollovers before, (2 in the last 18 months) and its only time before it happens again with the increased truck traffic on it. Port Lincoln is poorly designed in its export Port placement and the means of the trucks getting to it. The increased truck traffic in Port Lincoln has many residents very worried. While the trains are on the rail in their last week, I'm endeavoring to capture a train a day as a personal goal of capturing and preserving a bit of history. May 23-30th 2019 Tiff Firth ...media... In case you missed SA Country Hour last Wednesday, Wendy Holman, Barry Murnane and myself sat down for a round the table discussion with Brooke Neindorf of ABC Eyre Peninsula to discuss the repercussions of the trains ceasing grain cartage at the end of May. Scroll forward to the 34 minute mark to listen in on the podcast about what was discussed. Thanks Brooke and ABC Eyre Peninsula for your air time to raise the awareness and our concerns. https://www.abc.net.au//sa-count/sa-country-hour/11094696

08.01.2022 www.facebook.com/TiffFirthPhotography Tumby Bay 2019 Supermoon over the Jetty. Out of the series of shots I took I was about to get in the car up on the road away from the beach and I turned to see this view. I reset the tripod and gear and snap, I had this one in the bag. I wish I was up in that spot for the first moment the moon broke the horizon. Not to worry. There's next year. January 21st 2019

04.01.2022 www.facebook.com/TiffFirthPhotography My kids have their shoes in the Shoe Tree Tod Highway Eyre Peninsula South Australia so I had invested interest in this location. I just hoped there was a clear view to the track to get the last photo ever of the last train ever heading northbound on the tracks of Eyre Peninsula ever. And there it was, and there it happened. 30.5.2019... ...backstory...
