10.01.2022 One of my favourite sayings for training is "Never mistake Activity for Achievement" .....this can be related to many other topics. There are two common mistakes here and both lead to long term failure. 1. Always prepare your mind for training. For an experienced athlete going through the motions of a training session is as effective as going for a walk to the shop. For the novice to intermediate trainers it's imperative that we challenge ourselves mentally (and therefore phy...sically) to get the adaptations we want from our efforts. Failure to switch on and increase our physical boundaries will lead to poor training results. 2. Maniac Training! The complete opposite of our first mistake. Progressive Overload is an absolute fundamental when designing any training program, for people of all abilities. Failing to carry good form and structure (dynamic stability, postural alignment, timing and coordination) leads to potentially long term damaging movements. This occurs when we are braver/ mentally stronger than our physical capabilities. The good news is that both mistakes are repairable with awareness and competent advice/ supervision.
