14.01.2022 And just like that, another new Tiki addition to introduce. Rufus was surrendered into care over the weekend at 6-7 months of age. A handsome lad who has shown to be cheeky, social with all sizes of dogs and loving of people and kids. This sweet boy is too smart for his own good and will hopefully very soon be seeking a home of his very own. Believe it or not, but this handsome fella isn't a Kelpie like we believed upon surrender but believed to be a mostly Dingo boy with ...perhaps some Kelpie mixed in; making him incredibly smart and loyal. As he adjusts to foster care, we are getting to know his needs and wants for his future but for now, we just want to relish and dote on how handsome he really is R251000090

12.01.2022 Http://tikianimalrescue.com.au/apply The Lucky lot. It's now their time to shine and find homes of their very own. At now 9 weeks of age they're almost ready to leave the nest and develop into very special doggies. Being hand raised in foster care from 2 days of age, these babies love their humans and are looking for homes where they can be heavily included in their new families day to day business. ... They must be allowed inside with their new families to sleep throughout puppy hood and life and have a good daily exercise routine. They're best suited to homes with some doggie experience and would be best not suited to first time dog owners. Being a mixture of breeds from bull Arab to mastiff to anything in between, we are expecting medium to large size puppies when fully grown so new homes need to be looking for a larger addition to the household. They could be only dogs in their new homes with someone home a little more often than not but if you're a full time worker there will need to be another existing dog in the home, one that is older guiding and social to show them the ropes of the world. They may suit living in a home with dog savvy cats but homes must be knowledgeable on introductions between felines and puppies. Kids over the age of 10 years are best suited and confident with larger dogs. We would recommend fencing 5ft and over to keep them safe and contained but for the right applicants might allow rural fencing with the correct understanding of boundary training. NSW or ACT adoptions ONLY and you must be willing to travel to the foster home which is Newcastle NSW based for adoption meet and greets. No apartments please and renters please make sure you have your written permission for viewing. Their adoption fee is $550 each and they will be ready to go to their new homes very soon. 05.01.2022 Last half an hour Don't miss out.

05.01.2022 Tiki said goodbye to palliative care boy 13yo Hugo yesterday. He had come into Tiki after being dumped in the pound night cages with obviously advanced cancer. And the pound got him out to rescue with Tiki to live out his time in a loving foster home. He was at the vets yesterday to assess and set a palliative care plan for him, when it was found that the bad cough he had developed just in the past 24 hours on any exertion was metastatic lung cancer. The only humane thing to do was to say goodbye while he was already sedated. He was only with Tiki a month but made an impression. Just a gentle old man who would somehow ninja his way from one comfy bed to another. You'd rarely see him in transit, just noticed he was on a different bed. Except for meal times, then he'd be front and centre.

03.01.2022 Update: not surprisingly we have received loads of enquiries for Koda. We have placed her on hold while we assess them. Original post: Expression of interest are open. https://tikianimalrescue.com.au/apply/... Koda is a beautiful 9 mth old Rough Collie x kelpie. She is typical collie dog. Lots of energy and bouncy. She is good on lead. She has met people and kids and happy to see them. She was nervous at first into care but now is good with 9 dogs she is staying with. She could be an only dog as long as enough mental stimulation was given to her. She needs a home willing to put in training and mental stimulation as, typical of working breeds, boredom may lead to unwanted behaviour. She will need regular walks and socialising. No cats and pocket pets as we suspect she will chase them. Koda is a beautiful happy girl. Se will be available after next weekend when her vet work is done.

03.01.2022 Buddy is a handsome American staffy X sharpei X Newfoundland mixture and sits around 32kg in size at 1 years old. Buddy is shy in nature and takes a little while to meet new people with confidence but he is getting a bit better every day with more time settling into foster care and being exposed to the open wide world. He becomes very loyal to his favourite humans and is looking for someone committed to put some time into getting to know him. He will need a patient playmate,... and has become attached to a four year old male dog in his foster home who teaches him confidence. He has been introduced to the cat, small dogs and other big dogs in his foster home, but care always needs to be taken because Buddy gets very excited and forgets to listen, like when he goes for a walk off leash. Buddy does need continued training to learn basic commands, including loose leash walking which has all been started in foster care. He has been around children from a young age but because he is nervous he is best suited to a home with no kids or kids over the age of 12 years old that are confident with dogs. Buddy is toilet and crate trained, and hasn't shown any issues with wanting to escape the existing fencing in his foster home. But we would recommend fencing of at least 5ft and over. Buddy is looking for a home where he is included in the family and allowed to sleep inside especially at night. He is located in foster care in the Newcastle area and is available for adoption in the NSW and ACT areas ONLY. His adoption fee is $400 and he is ready to go now. R251000090
