25.01.2022 Check out our local Rotary Club's latest initiative! Come along if you're in Kununurra and talk tech ... this is an opportunity to bring your questions, your skills and your devices along to have a chat and get more out of your tech!!

22.01.2022 Many Brides and Grooms have had to rethink how they celebrate their nuptials during 2020 to be able to have family and friends from around the country or around the world! We recently helped Mr and Mrs Boyes include their family and friends in Victoria and New Zealand, so that they could be a part of their big day despite border closures and travel restrictions! Thanks to Landi Bradshaw Photography for allowing us to add in some of her beautiful images and Sandra for her chopper taking off with the Bride and Groom to make this little keepsake video to go with the Zoom stream and recording!

20.01.2022 COVID has definitely thrown more than a few curveballs at us all over the last year or so - none more so than brides and grooms! so today I'm off to connect loved ones for the happy couple's nuptials later today! This is my third Zoom Wedding ... let me know if you would like to discuss Zoom options for your big day!

20.01.2022 Our small businesses are flat out like the proverbial lizard drinking this season patience is the key when you’re accessing their services

20.01.2022 I’ve been the Rotary Club of Kununurra Inc., club nerd for a while now, and have been excited to bring some of the resources and activities I use for projects I’m working on for my clients Linkwest and ASCCA Seniors West Australian Digital Expansion Project to help increase the number of Digital Mentors around WA and the NT to our Club! I’d love to see you at Friday’s event at our Library!

18.01.2022 Today I spent the day working with two amazing groups of colleagues - the Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association board, and the BeingThere Video Conferencing team, to bring the 22nd Annual (1st ever VIRTUAL) ASCCA Seniors and Technology Conference, and paying tribute to one of the most outstanding outgoing Presidents I have ever had the fortune to work with - the indomitable, Nan Bosler, and welcoming in the new - and just as indomitable, Jennifer Willcox to the 2021 board of ASCCA. Across 3 different time zones, with 100+ attendees and up to 10 panelists - from 5am WST until stumps at 2pm WST ... Concierging the conference and Annual General Meeting ... bringing in guest speakers from around the country and overseas ... It looks simple ... but is it?

18.01.2022 Last week I spent prepping 10 #Zoom presenters for the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Industry's total line up of 22 #ORDTogether speakers at their #BusinessForum in #Kununurra on Friday. The program was packed with a wide range of topics from a variety of industries and locations, with a Q & A Panel at the end of each session. The challenges of a blended format (virtual and in person presenters to a local audience), in a lively venue aren’t to be underestimated! ... Thanks to BeingThere Video Conferencing for the hire of the #YamahaYVC1000, and to our sound man Kelvin for his assistance to blend the two sound systems for best results in both the local and far sites! It was exciting to be part of the ORDCO Ord River District Co-operative Ltd and Gourmet & More #ProductLaunch of the new #OrdValleyGrown, #WAProduced #ChickpeaProducts! Thanks to my virtual speakers from; North Regional TAFE - from Darwin Council of Small Business Organisations Australia - from Canberra Monday Media - from Perth Indus Mining - from Perth CipherTel Pty Ltd - from Bunbury Gourmet & More - from Perth Agristart - from Broome NT Farmers Association - from Darwin MG Cattle Company - from Perth Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA - from Perth Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley Shire of Halls Creek #COVIDRecoveryPlans #EconomicDevelopment #VideoConferencing

16.01.2022 Make sure you have an antivirus program on your devices, make sure your definitions are updated regularly, update the software and create a pass phrase rather than a password - one that changes with each account and can’t be easily guessed or unlocked. Your data is your responsibility and the current situation is pointing to an increase in untoward cyber behaviour... "This message, the Prime Minister, was clear do what you need to do to protect your valuable business and... personal data. "Threats come from anywhere, every day of the week." Ms Falk said even simple things like making sure passwords were secure and security updates on mobile phones were done as soon as they are released would help secure personal information.

15.01.2022 If you're a regional business using the NBN and technology - here's an opportunity you might be interested in!

14.01.2022 I am super excited about my latest investment - a large room video conferencing camera and audio set up! Excited about the possibilities it opens for larger scaled video links into Kununurra from anywhere in the world and for our brides and grooms who need to zoom to their families who can't get here! Ask me about how we can link in guest speakers from anywhere to your group now! #ZoomWedding #VideoConferencingSolutions #EastKimberley

11.01.2022 My opinion on the COVIDSafe app that the Australian government wants us to install... If you use loyalty cards, digital maps, social media or are generally doing anything online... Then you're already being tracked and analysed for financial gains for big corporates. The COVIDSafe app is intended to make the time consuming, onerous task of contact tracing a bit quicker, easier and more reliable. This is (hopefully) going to help us ease these current restrictions sooner and... more safely for the communities and our small businesses, and therefore our families. Your information is only stored on your device (and is encrypted on your device) - until such time as your device picks up that you have been near someone who has been positively tested for COVID19 and registered themselves on this app too ... only then is it shared with the Health Dept - on their encrypted servers to help them do the hardest job. Older people are much more likely to die from the virus. If, in the future, you have been near some infected stranger or friend then wouldn't you like to know ASAP to help keep your home and loved ones safe? As with anything online, you need to be aware of potential scammers (reports have been that there are sms messages being sent with links), please only download the app from your App Store or the Google PlayStore... In the pics are some things to check before downloading the Govt released app... Should you choose to download

07.01.2022 If you’re in either Wyndham or Kununurra I’d love for you to have your say on economic development potential in our region!

05.01.2022 I was fortunate enough to have worked with the team from Gourmet & More at the recent East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Forum. There were samples of our ORDCO Ord River District Co-operative Ltd grown chickpeas - and they’re DELICIOUS! My favourites are the yoghurt and dark choc coated ones! Keep an eye out for them in a gourmet store near you soon! #ShopLocal #WAGrown #WAOwned

05.01.2022 Video Conferencing is a new experience to many of us in the current COVID isolation world, a few tips to help you navigate the VC space that is now a daily work requirement for many of us. 1. TEST before the scheduled meeting time, find a buddy to help you test your connection so that in a meeting setting you're not holding up the proceedings! 2. LIGHTING, FRAMING and SOUND are all IMPORTANT! Make sure that people can see you properly in the frame - if you don't like look...ing at yourself, turn off the self view option (if you can), make sure there's no background noise (dogs, kids, tapping on the keyboard!). 3. BE ON TIME for the scheduled meeting - don't be the one interrupting everyone else with a late entry into your meeting 4. DON'T DO OTHER TASKS while in a meeting - its rude - give the meeting your full attention, you wouldn't check your emails or make phone calls while you're in a face to face meeting, so don't do it in a VC meeting 5. PRACTICE - if you're not comfortable with the tech, and you need to present, have a virtual cuppa with a friend and practice the skills you will be using in the meeting you're running! If you want more information or a hand setting up a video conference with multiple points, give me a call for a chat about best practice!

03.01.2022 Another round of scammers... be aware that ‘cold calls’ are not part of many reputable business’s repertoire. If you do get one of these, tell them you’ll call them back on the number you have for them...
