14.01.2022 THE OLD TENNYSON POWERHOUSE was an interesting project for Tilebuster. One of our most unusual jobs was the REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS TAR MEMBRANE on the roof of the old Tennyson Power house, which is where the current Queensland Tennis Centre now stands. This project required our machines being craned onto the roof 30 metres up and tethered to a central cable with a chain attached to our machine that would not allow up to get any closer than 2 metres from the edge. Most of the roof had no parapet surrounding it and was a shear drop to the ground ! The REMOVAL AREA was 8500m2 and project was managed by Rosenlund Demolition. No job too scary !
