14.01.2022 Federal stimulus package update - parents do not need to continue to pay for child care as of next week PROVIDED you are enrolled and your daycare stays open during this time WITHOUT charging you fees or gap payments. These measures are temporary but should help out those parents self isolating with kids at home but still paying fees. See this NTAA-prepared summary for further details and contact your day care provider to ascertain your personal circumstances.

11.01.2022 Workcover WA have confirmed that the jobkeeper top-up payments to employees WILL NOT be included in reported payroll figures for workers compensation insurance premium purposes. 11.01.2022 If you are self employed or have investment income and are required to make PAYG instalments, the Commissioner has offered Covid-19 support for you. He is giving you the option to not only vary your March instalment to zero, but to also claim back the credits paid in September and December to give you some cashflow. Usually penalties would apply for doing this if you have a tax liability at the end of the year, but all penalties and interest are being waived. It does mean that you will have a tax liability for 2020 but that can be dealt with under an arrangement at a later date. Speak to us now if this affects you and you need help in lodging a variation.

08.01.2022 SMALL BUSINESS EMPLOYERS BE AWARE!! Last year I wrote an article on Single Touch Payroll (STP) and what will and wont change in terms of payroll reporting to ...the ATO. Legislation passed yesterday to extend the ATOs reporting requirement to ALL employers, regardless of the number of employees, from 1 July 2019 onwards. The ATO has worked with software providers to ensure that those with only one or two employees on their payroll are not financially disadvantaged by the need to report, and the link below gives a list of all providers offering a solution for less than $10 per month. Certainly MYOB announced yesterday at the Perth Incite presentation that their payroll-only offering will be ready by April 2019. If you do need assistance in making sure you are compliant, please feel free to PM me. The ATO are NOT extending deadlines on this one so beware! See more
