03.01.2022 It's a year to the day since I had a huge scare with my girl Tilly. She had a bowel obstruction from ingesting a foreign body, and needed an emergency laparotomy to save her. Despite my being careful to ensure she didn't have access to her Kong toys without supervision, she managed to get it off a high shelf and eat it - she has a habit of ingesting silicone substances. Which is why it is always important to supervise your pets when playing with toys, and regularly inspect ...your toys for signs of damage, to reduce the risk of ingestion. Signs of bowel obstructions include vomiting, diarrhoea, refusal to eat, abdominal pain and swelling, fever, weakness and a refusal to lay down. Forever grateful to Horsham Veterinary Hospital for successfully operating on Tilly!
