20.01.2022 Pay attention to your children.. not your phone!!!!
20.01.2022 As an advocate for Kevin Henry, I am very pleased to announce that we have reached the initial target of 1500 signatories of the Kevin Henry online petition tha...nks to overwhelming support. Although there has been ongoing assistance and support from the Federal Attorney General, George Brandis and QLD State Attorney General, Yvette D'Ath and Western Australian AM, MP Ken Wyatt, Kevin Henry remains to this present day in jail as his parole applications are still being rejected by the Queensland Parole Board under the Corrective Services Act 2006. The online petition will now be forwarded to the intended recipients, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Queensland State Attorney General, Justice Yvette D’ath to be tabled at the next Queensland Senate sitting for consideration and hopeful action. The online petition will continue for other supporters to sign to show the increasingly ongoing support from the broader national and international supporters for Kevin’s release from prison. As an advocate, I am personally grateful and immensely thankful for all the overwhelming support brother Kevin Henry has received from mob across Australia, non-Aboriginal supporters and international support too. I would like to give special and full acknowledgement to Kevin’s senior advocate, Yasmin Johnson for her undying efforts and struggles in her quest to have Kevin released from jail for the past 15 years. All Yasmin’s efforts have not been unheard and I am sincerely grateful and privileged to have assisted Yasmin with bringing Kevin’s case and circumstances out into the limelight after being incarcerated for over 26 years. Also, a special thanks to ABC/Junkee journalists & local Darumbal woman, Amy McQuire for her assist for also bringing Kevin’s case into the limelight and assisting lead investigator, Senior Foreign Prison Support Officer, Martin Hodgson in considering Kevin’s case and revealing the massive flaws in a botched case by the Queensland Police and publicly producing the ‘Curtain the Podcast’ episodes to expose the truth. Their ongoing support and involvement has given brother Kevin hope after all these years in maintaining his innocence after opening his cold case and investigating the wrongful unjust incarceration of brother Kevin. Kevin’s case has put the Queensland Parole Board under public scrutiny, which has successfully resulted in the previous parole board being dismissed and a new one elected and reassigned. This is good news for our people as we now have more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representation on the parole board, which will provide further hope for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander inmates in their applications for fairer parole hearings. Yet there is some hope for our loved ones on the inside that have been rejected numerous times previously and those applications in future. Bravo!!! As the fight for Kevin’s release and freedom may take some time yet as legal matters are still ongoing, finally this has given Kevin some relief and a glimmer of hope for his release after 26 years Again, I would love to sincerely thank all my family, friends and wider public for their ongoing support and sharing Kevin’s story to create wider acknowledgement and additional support. Thank you!!! Curtain #CurtainThePodcast #FREEKEVINHENRY #CURTAINPODCAST #BLACKLIVESMATTER #JUSTICEFORCURTAIN #HUMANRIGHTACTIVISTS
