This lovely modern country kitchen (recently photographed for Kitchens & Bathrooms Quarterly magazine) was designed by Markus Sawatzki and built by Let’s Talk Kitchens I loved the roughly cut timber floor and delicate vein of the bench top.... The house was unoccupied at the time so we needed to bring in all the props in order to style the kitchen.

This piece forms part of a wonderful series by artist Glenn Todd called Tin Can-vas. Glenn approached me to photograph 15 of his large 1.2 x 1.2 meter metallic works. Many of the pieces are made with reclaimed tin cans, sourced by Glenn himself, digitally overprinted and overworked with fabricated sheet metal and wire elements. All feature metal frames a...nd elements, and weigh about 40 kg, so it took two of us to move them into place. Here’s how his work is described: The work of GD Todd is substantial in both stature and the development process, representing a melting pot of metal, form, function, transition, language, design, humour, consumerism, industry, and flawed beauty. Photographing large, metal artwork, some with three dimensional components, certainly has its challenges, including reflections from the metal and shadows from the 3-D elements, but we eventually found a simple system that worked on location in Glenn’s studio.
