25.01.2022 Seriously, if you love timber why would you opt for any other finish besides Loba Invisible Protect. Feel and looks like raw timber. Magic stuff

25.01.2022 I’m out of here for a while, trading my work van for my mountain bike and exploring some of our great state. Back early October

25.01.2022 Install finished, now its the sand and sealing side. It turns out that the original floor was never sanded. Seriously. They installed a floor and then just oiled it without touching a sander at all. Crazy Anyways there is a pretty cool difference in the floors before and now. Im sure the client will be stoked.... And the client opted for a product I really love. LOBA INVISIBLE PROTECT. Its crazy expensive, a two component, two coat system that leaves the floor looking as the name suggests, like nothing is one the floor at all. Looks and feels like natural timber. But with the knowledge that it has some kick ass protection going on. See the any difference between the earlier photos just sanded and later coated ones? I love this product. The way timber should be. At almost $300 for 5 liters I really hope the client and builder likes it as much as me.

24.01.2022 You dont mind lugging gear up three flights when you can look out at to this while you are earning a coin

24.01.2022 A good friend said that my outdoor furniture looked good with a coopers pale ale on top..... It’s a great family run brewery but this my friends is quality... Outdoor table thingy with a billabong brewed feral- battle pig on top Master piece on master piece

23.01.2022 Great friend,Mat McMillin asked for a hand so Im down in Busselton for a week. Rip up a few tiles here and there, cut through some roof timbers and make way for some long steel beams. Thankfully the hiab could get them close enough in the roof for us. Pretty dam heavy These will support the second floor that we should start next in a few days. While thats going on, try and play dodge with some rain and rip off old tiles in the joining granny flat. Re batten, insulate, r...e facia and gutter and slap down sheets before the clouds let loose. Really enjoying this town. Pride parade was going off yesterday. I could hear sirens and cheering as I slugged it out on the roof Even had time to go for walk down to the jetty and catch a few squid I think I could live here

23.01.2022 Its that time again when I have an urge to watch the city disappear in my rear view mirror. So Im out of here from Tuesday 2nd and be back Tuesday 9th. Fishing, mountain biking and catching up with folk down south Woo hoo

21.01.2022 Im back. Well and truly rested and slowly getting back into work mode after a super extended break. 6 months off is so sweet Now to work so I can head off again

21.01.2022 Another Loba IP floor finished Not my installation this time. See how the original floor looks like the cured floor. Its crazy stuff to watch dry.

21.01.2022 So I decided to install an recycled Jarrah floor. Then it turned out the clients like the look of Wandoo more All good.. really nice people and a friend of a friend like most of my clients. I have to say that it ranked up there with one of the most dustiest jobs Ive done.... Recycled boards that needed crap docked out, and each end docked. Then 3 of the 4 packs of boards all needed the tongues and grooves cleaned out. No garage, no carport and not the weather to be outside. Great thing that nothing has been painted yet. Allocated a room up and down stairs to make a mess It really felt like I was just treading water for days and not getting anything done at all. Two weeks of hard yakker and a few hours of dusting, wiping down, more dusting, more wiping down, tonnes of vacuuming and Im finally there. Then I find out after I get home that the stove area needs sanding and sealing prior to its install next week. Load up some gear and head back. I got to say, that to see the beautiful colors come out after all that hard work is really rewarding. I think it looks mint. Cant wait to get stuck into the rest of it

21.01.2022 Ive been installing floors for over 20 years and I can honestly say that having a client walk in with an unexpected treat makes my day

20.01.2022 No more BONA headaches for me. Ive done enough LOBA floors now and have adjusted to the new product to realize that it really is that much better and easier to use than what I have been using for the last 15 odd years. Maybe it was the devil you know. Presuming all products have their quirks that had kept me from jumping ship. The old Holden vs Ford argument. All I can say is that now I understand them more, I am loving LOBA.... And when I think back to when I had issues, Paul Kiely and the LOBA gang came to the party and help me fix competitors issues. Not sure why I didnt switch then. Really super happy with the ways things are going now. Im as happy with Loba as I was when I discovered yoga

18.01.2022 Im completing a house of Sydney bluegum for my fellow yakfisher Mr Brendon Chambers this week. Nice house, nice family, great clients Bit of carpet removal first. Geez, I forgot how time consuming all that is..I didnt glue down a single board for the day... Back in a coupla to sand and skirt.

18.01.2022 It may look like I have been pretty lazy since I came back from up north...well guess what..Im away again soon. I havent posted up much because most of my work time hasnt been on my personal jobs, its been used up helping out my fellow flooring mates. I thank them very much for opportunity to help them out.... But just to show I havent been slacking off. Heres a couple of pics from work Ive done for Roger @ Freo Floors. Top bloke, does a great job, hires the best subbies. Check out the quality Now I am heading off soon to escape the Perth winter. Leaving mid June, back....sometime probably late July ..fishing and weather dependent.

16.01.2022 A few weeks back I refurbished an old solvent based Jarrah floor and fixed her up with some LOBA water base finish. The same lovely clients liked my work that much that got me back to freshen up their adjoining deck. Its sealed with Cabots Jarrah tinted deck finish. Came up a treat. A nice match to the interior floors considering the deck is actually Merbau.

16.01.2022 Work life balance in action with Fleetwood flooring aka Wayne

15.01.2022 I’m going up north again for a bit. Back mid August. Out of contact where I’m going to

15.01.2022 This Subiaco floor put up a good fight. Jarrah impregnated with cement I think No ghost foot prints anymore, and thankfully no more high gloss. Clients have LOBA Matt/satin Easy finish now to admire

14.01.2022 Yes there is definitely fishing gear amongst all of this work stuff I love my job

14.01.2022 Im out of here for a while, trading my work van for my mountain bike and exploring some of our great state. Back early October

12.01.2022 Woo hoo back to some carpentry work. Helping my good mate Matt from "Unified Construction Solutions" frame out a holiday house down south. Not often you have to take a boat trip to work... I am loving this type of work. So nice to have a break from floors. And its great to keep my hand and head in my trade that I dont practice as much as I should

11.01.2022 Had a call from a client from of over 10 years ago. Toilet leak had damaged a section of flooring. Rip out and replace, then a re sand. Eastern States Blackbutt. Originally finished with BONA TRAFFIC.... Even with water base, the sun really smashes the finish. Look at the raw section as opposed to 10 yrs. The lovely client mentioned how she loved that raw look. SWEET I got to slowly nudge her towards LOBA Invisible Protect. My favorite finish by a long shot. Looks and feels just like a raw floor I didnt quite get the light right for the final photos. In the flesh it looks completely raw.. Love this stuff See more

11.01.2022 Its a hard slog getting several 5 odd meter steel beams supported, made space for, actually into the confined roof space. Get them at the right heights, plated up and then fixed and strapped. Heaps of mucking around for not much progress, but then once youre happy with all of that you get to drag 8 meter LVLs up into that same roof space and start fixing out. Lots of splinters, dust, cuts and scratches but loads of smiles too... Thanks Matt for having some work out of town for me

11.01.2022 I really love my job. I pick my days to work (Got a freezer full of snapper) I pick the hours I work I generally have the nicest clients to work for... On that note, I get to pick and choose my clients too I love the aesthetic part of my service. Timber and cork floors that leaves a steady trail of pride over the years is very rewarding I have a great network of colleagues that all always there to help or offer advice The same people that I can rely on to fill a day or two, and obviously return the favour. But I really have to say the best part of my job is that from the moment I rock up to when I leave I am just tripping out on whatever Ive loaded onto my MP3 player. Great music all day long can do nothing but keep you in a happy mood Loving life at the moment.

10.01.2022 Dont you love it when people give sanding a go. The young couple just purchased this lovely little house with a very average sanding job. Deep Nail lines throughout the home. I think the sander got sick of punching the silly t-nails Throw in a bunch of chatter and drum dish marks for good measure too.

10.01.2022 A couple months down the track and the floor we finished got uncovered. To be honest I am impressed on how this OSMO oil stuff turned out. Bitch to use but it looks the goods

10.01.2022 Im going up north again for a bit. Back mid August. Out of contact where Im going to

10.01.2022 I’ve been installing floors for over 20 years and I can honestly say that having a client walk in with an unexpected treat makes my day

10.01.2022 So this is the second job this year that I have had the task of installing level joists over an uneven subfloor. Ranging from 13mm to around 90mm matching up to an existing floor, which wasnt level either This floor is the my first for Peter, from "Primesite Developments".... Anyhows, I got it done, but Ill know for next time to allow for more time. This simple (so I thought) rectangular room took twice as long as I predicted. Having to round up and carry the chooks out every time I turned my back broke up the chore Back in a few weeks to sand and seal the entire house. More pics to follow

08.01.2022 I am AWOL for at least 4 months. Giving myself a long deserved break of camping and fishing up our great coastline. If you are chasing anything work related and want something done prior to roughly September then here is a list of people I trust that can help you out.... Alan 0402 272 138 Dion 0412 169 363 Mike 0412 345 330 Roger 0411 156 676 Wayne 0419 944 092 And for any carpentry work Marty 0407 145 121 Im not going to have very much phone coverage and definitely no internet most of the time... Cant wait

08.01.2022 In the twenty whatever years Ive been in the timber game, I have never had a client that wanted me use interior floor finishes on an outside deck. Its not just the fact that there are deck finishes out there that can withstand our environment better, its also about drying/curing times in an uncontrollable situation and competing with wind, leaves, dust and dirt. Anyways after my hard work, she has turned out nice... LOBA Prima seal. Followed by two coats of matt Easy Finish The test now will be how long will it hold out.

08.01.2022 I had to feel for the tenants vacating this house and finding stains under a rug or two that penetrated quite deep into my old floor. Replaced out several boards and a complete resand.

07.01.2022 Ive had an interesting week. Rocked up to an office Friday morning. Hugged and puffed to remove the carpet and special cable hiding skirting. I got stuck into some grinding to remove the nasty glue. Big thanks to Roger aka Freo Floors for the loan of the stand up grinder. So much better than my hands and knees set up.... It is painfully slow to grind a floor Anyhows its super noisy as well. So even though the offices in the building were informed I was asked to stop just a couple of hours into it. Grrrr. Back Saturday to finish....but the beautician had a client so from 1130 to 1.30 I had to keep quiet. Grrrr again.. Bit the bullet and stayed into the night to finish the install, and then back on the Sunday to re fit the skirts. Good thing the job is for a great client. Actually it is pretty cool working in an office building all by yourself. Back Good Friday to start sanding See more

06.01.2022 So this is our first time using OSMO 3040 Poly X oil. Anyone out there use this stuff much? Very labour intensive

06.01.2022 Taking a week off, heading north Back Monday 9th

05.01.2022 I probably should have cleaned the deck before I took photos..oh well... I do decking too is what Im putting out there.. Just not when Im away

05.01.2022 Loving my job today. Actually sanding one of my installations for a change. No crappy cutting in around door frames to fill. ... No crappy boards thrown into the floor with the typical installers shell be right, the sander will sort that out.. not my problem now issues. No glue to scrape off, no walls to clean etc. There is another level of satisfaction when you know your install is neat, clean and not going to throw any hidden issues your way. Loving this 80x13 Brushbox Even though its a longer process to lay over the favoured 130x14 these days. I really like how there is just that more character with more colour variations. Cant wait to get some LOBA coats on her

04.01.2022 A good friend said that my outdoor furniture looked good with a coopers pale ale on top..... Its a great family run brewery but this my friends is quality... Outdoor table thingy with a billabong brewed feral- battle pig on top Master piece on master piece

03.01.2022 We have been talking about a walk with clubs for many years and today with the fairways within sight of our job we finally made it. Laughing so much

02.01.2022 I had a job postpone so a quick call to Matt and I was heading back to Busso for another stint playing around with this renovation. Usual practice would be to remove a roof section and have a clear run to get stuff down. But we dont like easy...and Matt is between jobs as well.... So we are working around weather and electing to get work done while dodging collar ties, purlins and struts. And having to close up the roof every time we open her up to throw materials we need up there. Its hard slow work being bent over, crawling and scampering while lying and dragging lumbar around Sort of like two steps forward and back one. But we have most of the structafloor down. Always a laugh with Matt and his lovely family. Looking forward to another stint down the track.

01.01.2022 Ive been staining floors for several years now. It has been a hard task learning the art. Dealing with products that make you stress about, the time left on the floor, the light/heat that may come into play, simple things like a drop of sweat, reactions with coating systems, let alone having random boards rejecting stains for no good reason. Then you have issues with some products and tannin rich timbers. Oh its been heaps of fun....... Happy and proud to say that the last few years, I have smashed it Heres my last effort, a re-milled old recycled Jarrah floor out in Guilford. Bit of a shame covering these beautiful grain rich boards with a stain. As the job went on, I found myself really liking it. Especially for this house. Everything is black or white, so I guess original Jarrah may have looked a little out of place. It will be nice to go back when the coating has fully settled and its full of furniture to grab a few more pictures.
