04.01.2022 Recently I’ve had the honour of working with a local charity, Beyond DV, on a project to create a bespoke piece of artwork. The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) commissioned the art to be used as a perpetual trophy that would be presented to a person in the community in QLD who had done outstanding work in the area of domestic and family violence. Over the course of a month I worked with the ladies from Beyond DV who helped me to create and give real meanin...g to the final piece. The deep purple resin represents the darkness of abuse & trauma and as that flows into iridescent lilac it signifies the healing process through recovery and hope. The natural curve of the centre of the timber is symbolic of the support received by people working in the community to help and change lives. It’s a cause very close to my heart and as such was an emotional and healing endeavour for me to lead. I would like to thank Beyond DV & the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) for this opportunity and also congratulate the winners of the Alison Woolla Award for 2020, Myrtle Foote and May Ballie, Co-founders of Pormpur Paanthu (women’s house)
