25.01.2022 If you've got a couple of minutes to spare why not check out my new blog. https://www.timbertoneaustralia.com.au//the-enthusiastic-a

25.01.2022 I got the opportunity to make some elements that will be incorporated into a larger piece that is part of a heritage restoration in our town for a local business. The wider pieces will become false drawer fronts while the narrower ones will stand as posts on the façade of the work. Very much look forward to seeing the finished piece; stay tuned.

22.01.2022 Hard at it over the weekend sawing up a silky oak (Grevillea robusta). All up there were four logs to slab down and was able to get through the two bigger ones and some of the third. The slabs are cut at 65mm (2 1/2") in anticipation of dressing to a finished thickness of 50mm (2") once seasoned. The logs had been sitting around for a little while with bark on but there was practically no spalting or insect incursion; which is great.... The timber has such a beautiful figure, especially on the quarter, courtesy of the medullary rays. Now just two years for it to be ready...

20.01.2022 Some freshly sawn Southern Silky Oak (Grevillea robusta). A beautiful figure; especially on the quarter, courtesy of the medullary rays. https://www.facebook.com/pg/TimberToneAust/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2424476011141178

17.01.2022 Some renovations I have wanted to do for a long time. Scrapping some really tired carpet in a couple of rooms and installing solid timber floors. We decided on Spotted Gum with concealed fixers and are really happy with the results so far.

17.01.2022 Checkout the latest video; 40th birthday personalised serving board. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMJkVfEs4yg The board is Rose Gum (Eucalyptus grandis) and was from a tree that had to come down for an on-site wastewater disposal area. That log featured in a slabbing shoot i posted several years ago and an opportunity came up for one of the flitches. ... Overall I'm pretty happy with how the boards came out and I like the touches of copper used on them; which I think help make it a bit more interesting and intriguing. This video post follows my last one by 11 months almost to the day and I actually completed these boards in October 2018! So it's fair to say that alot has been going on in the interim. Looking forward to getting the next one out; quicker than 11 months hopefully.

09.01.2022 Love it when a project starts coming together!

08.01.2022 I bought this drum sander in October 2019 and it's been sitting on the workshop floor in the box since; just really emphasizing how little I've been able to get out and cracking in the workshop. Feels good to have it setup and almost fully operational and am really looking forward to getting some time using this machine.

07.01.2022 I've still been nose to the grindstone getting our place back together. Like most renovations this one is blowing out. I'm still happy with the progress and finish to date but am champing at the bit to get back into the workshop. Lucky that, as it's almost time to build our new entry door.

06.01.2022 A backscratcher I turned from some spotted gum. Really happy with how it turned out. https://youtu.be/2V8DNnbsBi8
