14.01.2022 Our U16 Cairns Marlins have started the State Championships with a bang with a comprehensive 93-38 win over the North Gold Coast Seahawks. The U16 Stingers pla...y next at 11am vs South West Metro Pirates and 3:30pm vs Ipswich Force. The U16 Corals start their campaign against Ipswich at 12:30pm.

12.01.2022 Yesterday was our last session of both the U12 & U14 Emerging Programs for 2020. The Cairns Basketball Emerging Program is designed to provide a development pat...hway for boys and girls that trialed for the 2020 representative season but were not selected in the Division 1 or Division 2 teams. Over the course of the 8 week intensive program participants were exposed to high level training sessions under the guidance of Basketball Development Manager Lennon Smartt as well as taking part in scrimmage matches against U12 & U14 representative teams. The aim of the program is that the extra training sessions and games will help close the gap and set athletes up for success in future trials. Well done to all players and we look forward to seeing you all at rep trials later in the year.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to both of our U14 Boys teams who performed strongly at the State Championships hosted by Cairns Basketball. The Cairns Marlins finished Top 4 i...n the state and the Cairns Stingers came away 9th after a nail biting 54-51 win in their final game against Townsville. We are extremely grateful to head coaches Brett Toombs and Jarrod Coghlan for continuing to give back to the program and making these boys better every game - on and off the court, assistant coaches Daniel Fomekong and Heath Stanfield for their commitment to the teams and the amazing team managers Kylie Dempsey and Jessie Geary. And of course, thanks to the players for representing our association with such pride - we were certainly very proud to be able to watch you all play on your home court.

09.01.2022 Cairns Basketball are excited to announce that Basketball Australian Director of High Performance - Peter Lonergan will be presenting an exclusive workshop for ...the Club Coaches of Cairns Basketball. He will be covering some team concepts and skills, as well as how to run effective and clear training sessions. There will also be a Q and A element as well. This is a great opportunity to learn from the best and to network with some other coaches. The clinic will be held at Cairns Basketball on Wednesday 9th December, 6:30 - 8:30pm. 09.01.2022 Easing of Restrictions BQ has received further clarification from Queensland Sport and Recreation on how QLD's additional easing of restrictions impacts indoo...r sports. While we wait for our Indoor Sports COVIDSafe Industry plan to be updated, basketball can operate under the new easing of restrictions. This means: Person limits in indoor premises will increase from 1 person per 4 square metres to 1 person per 2 square metres Seated, ticketed indoor events (including sports) can increase patron numbers from 50% to 100% * * . If you are feeling unwell and suffering from cold or flu-like symptoms or have come in contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case, you MUST NOT attend any basketball activities.
