23.01.2022 Sculpture, Christchurch Botanic Gardens - or should that be bot Gardens. ???? I didn’t dare taking a pic from the other side.

20.01.2022 Dunedin, South Island. Sadly the Cadbury factory has closed down. The railway station seems to function for tourist trains, but is still a beautiful building.

17.01.2022 Hobart. A brief stop after a rocky crossing of the Tasman. We were welcomed into Storm Bay by a small pod of short-beaked dolphins - I wasn’t quick enough to get a photo so you will to take my word for how spectacular their antics were as they surfed the bow wave. Beautiful, small dolphin. On the way out of Storm Bay I rescued a small petrel (diving petrel?) who had decided to hitch a ride for a while. Then off to Richmond for a scallop pie (what else in Hobart), a Scottish festival (unplanned with too many bagpipes), Puddle Duck winery for a tasting (bug thumbs up) to finish with a visit to Runnymede House on the outskirts of the city. Runnymede was owned by a whaling family (well, the men did the whaling) and has a great display of whaling memorabilia including scrimshaw. Beautiful house and garden.

10.01.2022 After a relatively rough crossing of the Tasman, we made it to Hobart. I was up early and managed to watch a pod of small dolphins escort the vessel as we entered Storm Bay. Alas, I didn’t managed to get a photo but you can take my word for it, they were beautiful. After negotiating Immigration, I escorted a bus load out to a tasting at Puddle Duck Wines before heading to Richmond where I had a curried scallop pie (what else would you have here in Tassie). I ate my lunch while watching the local Tasmanian Scottish clans trying out their bagpipes, drum majoring skills and highland dancing. We stopped off at Runnymede House and Gardens on the way back. A nice afternoon out. We head for Melbourne tonight. Sea day tomorrow so I’ll be busy lecturing.
