17.01.2022 5th of June_ World Environment Day #time4nature. Colombia to host 2020 World Environment Day on biodiversity in partnership with Germany. It is the United Nations flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. Ref. UN Environment Program The recent unprecedented bushfires in Brazil, United States, and Australia, the swarms of locusts ravaging crops in the Horn of Africa, the destruction of coral reefs in Australia, and the ongoing coronav...irus pandemic all prove that this years theme is all the more pertinent. The UN's statistics show that one million plant and animal species are threatened with extinction, and nature's current rate of decline is unparalleled. Ref. Independent uk One example is the Koala. Australia is removing koala habitat at a catastrophic rate. Queensland is on the worst places for deforestation. Also, the effect of increased carbon dioxide on eucalyptus leaves leads to higher toxins and lower nutritional compounds @worldenvironmentdays #worldenvironmentday #environment
