23.01.2022 The Community Co -Op Sutherland Shire is a collaborative food relief program run by One Meal, Hopefield, Orana, and Shire Salvos. They are currently gathering non-perishable foods to donate to those in need and we would love your help in supporting this wonderful organisation. If you have any spare items at home or are able to add a few to this weeks shopping list that would be appreciated. A box where you are able to drop off donations will be placed in the foyer for us to pass on. Thank you for all of your previous and future donations, they are much appreciated. #showusyourcans

22.01.2022 This year the Time4Kindy team will be participating in the Walk for Daniel. This is an annual fundraiser run by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to raise awareness for child safety education. Normally the Walk for Daniel is an event where thousands gather on the Sunshine Coast for a community walk. This year due to Covid-19 the Daniel Morcombe Foundation is encouraging groups across Australia to walk through their own community instead. On Day for Daniel which is on Friday the 30th of October, members of the T4K staff will be walking 4.7km from Caringbah to Cronulla. 15.01.2022 Normally the Caterpillar room (3-5 years) would go and visit the seniors in our two local nursing homes regularly throughout the year. Due to social distancing, the children have not been able to attend this year. To keep this relationship strong we decided to set up a pen pal system with our friends at Frank Vickery Village. The other day they sent us some beautiful tactile collages they had made for us. These collages depicted their seniors playing with our children which we thought was so amazing. They also sent us some templates for us to do our own, so over the next week we used our creativity and imaginations to make them. We then sent these back up to Frank Vickery Village!

06.01.2022 Last week (Monday 17th- Friday 21st August) the Caterpillars were reading the Pink is for boys book. This book discusses how any gender can like any colour and that children are not limited to only boy or girl colours. Whilst reading the book we have been talking about who likes which colour and whether they like to do the activities shown in the book, such as playing team sports, wearing pink bows and climbing trees. After we had read the book, we looked at pictures of... people doing different jobs and talked about whether these jobs were for only boys, only girls or both. The Caterpillars decided that anyone can do any job they like. After reading the Caterpillars all said, I can be whoever I want to be together. We believe social Justice issues and gender equality are really important concepts to teach at Time4Kindy. We are always finding new ways to teach about this throughout our program and curriculum. Building the childrens understanding of these concepts during the Early Childhood years is important in creating a solid foundation for acceptance and equality within our society. See more

06.01.2022 Over the last few weeks one of our T4K families has been raising awareness and funds for families who have suffered the loss of an infant. Below is Ash and Deans story, On the 29th of January this year, our gorgeous, 3.9kg baby girl Amara was born at full term with no signs of distress. Tragically, for reasons we will never know or understand, our little angel only stayed with us for 6 hours on this earth before she grew her wings. All in one moment, our beautiful little bab...y was born, and then whisked away. What we thought was going to be one of the most beautiful days of our lives, turned into a nightmare that has devastated our lives forever. Devastatingly, just like us, far too many families experience the loss of their baby in Australia each year. It is an incredibly heartbreaking, life changing and traumatic time for parents. I am fundraising for a cuddle cot to be donated to an Australian hospital in our little girls name, to support bereaved families in those crucial days after the loss of their baby. A cuddle cot is a cooling system that lays beneath the baby within a bassinet. It enables families to keep their baby close and create beautiful memories, spending as much time as they wish with their baby, before saying goodbye. Without this, I would not have been able to spend those precious hours with our baby girl after she grew her wings, these are the only memories we have. They will be treasured by us forever. These cots are not cheap, they are $6,500 each. And many hospitals sadly require several of them to be able to support bereaved families. We have already raised enough for one cuddle cot to be donated, all funds from now on will go towards donating a second one and to Bears of Hope who offer amazing support to bereaved families. I will be running a fundraising raffle to try and raise money for a cuddle cot. If you, your business or anyone you know would like to donate something for this cause, we would be so very appreciative - Ash and Dean If you would like to support this amazing family the fundraiser link is below https://cuddlecot.gofundraise.com.au/page/Ashleigh-15384304
