25.01.2022 Haere ra 2018, a year full of rich experiences with beautiful people. As always, the learning and growing continues so I want to thank all of my clients this year along with the friends I’ve made along the way. I’m grateful for the opportunities you all have given me to be part of your journey. Here’s to more balance, family time and meaningful connections in 2019. Wishing everyone a happy new year! Arohanui, Chanel (and Boobie monster, Tame)

25.01.2022 I’m looking forward to working alongside passionate and driven women for the next We Connect meet up. What a great opportunity to connect and network with other like minded professionals around Darwin.

25.01.2022 It’s hard to see the change and growth of my little people when we’re together everyday. I love looking at last year’s portraits and reminiscing of all the happy memories we’ve had this year. #myfavouritelittlemen @ Darwin, Northern Territory

23.01.2022 Meri Kirihimete to all! It has been a jolly good year and I’m truly excited for what is to come in the next year. I’m thankful for the new people I have met through my work this year, you have inspired me to shift mountains and not settle for mediocre. I’m working on something that I’m so excited to get off the ground!! But for the next few days I’ll be lapping up some time off with the family and this handsome husband of mine see you all next year

22.01.2022 Flashback to my very first family portrait session at the cute boat sheds in Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne. One of my fave portraits of my beautiful friend, Lee. #familyportraitsession #darwinfamilyphotographer #naturallightphotography #darwinphotographer

22.01.2022 I genuinely want all of my clients to feel comfortable staring into the lens, I reassure, I give direction when needed, I praise and say thanks. I mean what I say and do but I need to start taking my own advice and get comfortable in front of the lens too. No one wants to chose a photographer they’ve never seen, least of all one who isn’t as confident in front of the camera as she is behind it telling you everything is ok! So, here I am. This is me following my own reassuri...ng words and taking my own direction, praising myself for getting in front of the lens so that you can see you aren’t the only one who feels somewhat awkward staring into a lens. It’s a beautiful photo, I love and cherish it. A beautiful memory of a time in my life where my children demand much of my time and energy which means I don’t spend as much time on self care. A time where I have just returned to the workforce after spending three years having babies and raising them. A time where my husband and I are both working hard to accomplish the goals we’ve set together but this means we have to make some sacrifices in the short term to finish the long game. I time where the broken sleep train feels like it’ll never stop to let me off and I’ll never be able to eat, shower or toilet in peace! A moment I know doesn’t last as long as it feels and someday I’ll miss it terribly and I’ll be thankful I took this photo of me and all my sleep deprived glory. A picture really does speak a thousand words and while I’m busy convincing everyone else to capture those beautiful moments, this is mine that I wanted to share with you. Chanel

20.01.2022 @we_connect_nt is a great opportunity to meet Women from all walks of life in a social setting. I loved meeting new friends and when I wasn’t snapping away just having a good chat with likeminded women.

15.01.2022 I haven’t trusted anyone enough to touch my hair in three years. I’ve always had a love hate relationship with hair dressers and as the saying goes you get what you pay for. I had an opportunity to work with Despina, the owner of @vanillahairstudio, in July and I knew by her work ethic and care that I’d ask her to cut and colour my hair. I have never felt so content walking out of a hair salon. Not one fault or regret. From the the moment I sat down in the chair we had a ...thorough consult about the current condition of my hair, my expectations, past experiences, wants/needs and fears! I learnt so much about the how and why of hair maintenance in this one appointment than I’ve learnt in all the years of disappointing hair results. I love how Despina answered all of my silent questions that I was too embarrassed to ask because I have zero knowledge about how to look after my locks! Today I learnt a very valuable lesson about being a small business owner. About how important it is to share knowledge with your clients so then don’t feel like they’ve just paid for a product or service and you’ve not included instructions on how to use it or care for it. A heartfelt thanks to Despina and the caring staff at @vanillahairstudio for pampering and educating me today! 05.01.2022 Traditional Haka (dance) or waiata (song) at any occasion = guaranteed tears. Here, my whanau are performing haka at the recent wedding of my dad and his new wife. I still get goosebumps looking through these photos. #wayneandmarlene #darwinweddingphotographer #melbournewedding #haka #maoriculture #dontforgetyourroots

04.01.2022 A tender moment shared between brothers. The Hongi is a traditional Mori greeting of important significance because of the intimate sharing of personal space. Both people share their breath of life with one another and normally symbolises the acceptance of a guest (manuhiri) to tangata whenua (native land). In this picture, my dad and his youngest brother hongi after the performance of the haka. Dad is showing aroha (love) and acknowledging those who have just performed... haka in their honour. #maoriwedding #wayneandmarlene #darwinphotographer #darwinweddingphotographer #culturalwedding See more
